Fleas -Is anyone else having a bad Fall for fleas this year?

We've been using Biospot for the past 10 years with great success. All of a sudden, over the past couple of months we've been dealing with those nasty buggers. It seems others in my area are also having problems. In Sept I put the Biospot on my two pooches and found they had fleas. I gave them a bath and got rid of some, a week or so later ended up giving them a flea bath and got rid of some more, and then repeated the flea bath again! Still fleas. We bombed the house and immediately gave yet another flea bath, but still. The next month came along and I placed the Biospot on them again and still, no success. I waited 2 weeks and then put the new Walmart version of Frontline on them. It's been about a week and we still have them. I'm so frustrated and feel awful seeing them itching and biting at themselves. Their skin are definitely seeing the effect too. I see small sores on their pink skin. Neighbors are experiencing the same issue here in Clay, NY. Thankfully we've got winter right around the corner (never thought I'd say that) so hopefully they will be dying off, but we've got to get rid of them inside still. Any suggestions, words of advice, etc... for us?

Thanks,

Jacqui :lmt:

We've been hammered with them on all four-legged animals... Even the little ones who don't go outside are hit equally as bad. And it's not so much as the quantity, but the size of these buggers!!! Some of these are as big as red ants! They're HUGE!

What's it gonna take to end this? Maybe we should call Al Gore... He invented everything else, maybe he can squeeze in a flea eradication plan.

Hi Jacqui,
Brick had a few fleas on him this summer. I had never seen one on him before. I think he picked them at the dogpark at Longbranch. I've always used Frontline.

Within a couple of days of seeing those fleas, I put him on the oral flea treatment Comfortis and within one day, I didn't see any fleas on him. And since I started him on the Comfortis, I haven't seen another flea.
I give the Comfortis in ADDITION to the Frontline now.

I did not bomb the house but I did spray the yard.

I may talk to my vet about an alternative to Frontline. I've been hearing & reading how it seems to have become less effective.
We took one of our cats to the Vet tonight for a non-flea related issue but while we were there, we picked up some Comfortis for the two Sheepish and the pseudo-outdoor cat. Updates to follow.
