Denta-stix

Does anyone else have trouble with their dogs getting these stuck in their mouths while chewing?

We have never had issues with my other OES when she would eat them, but, I did see a series of serious posts on here somewhere (I didn't search, but, I know it is here) with dogs choking on them and getting stuck.... We have opted not to give these to our dog now after reading these.

We really use Bully stix as our primary chewable treat here. We get them from our local small pet shop who buys really nice fat/long ones that take her awhile to chew. We also stick them in the freezer for a cold chewy treat. We do give really big rawhide bones as well (no knots) and quite large, but, we take them away and throw them out when they get small. I know people don't like rawhides, but, it does keep Dahlia busy for awhile.
I bought the Dental Stix a couple of months ago for the first time. The Aussies did ok with them but Violet's got caught on the roof of her mouth and was choking her. I had to reach my hand into the back of her throat and get it out. I WILL NEVER GIVE TO ANY OF MY DOGS AGAIN! Violet was such a good girl to allow her Mom to stick her hand in and come out with all fingers still attached.
We also don't use those dental stick for the same reasons. Read too many reports of them not only getting stuck in their mouths but getting stuck and causing blaokcages. I use dental wipe for their teeth. I get them from Dr Foster and Smith on line and they are easy to use and if you can't brush, these are good. I don't trust anything that is not digestible and/or can get stuck...
Mady normally get a dentastix every day, we've never had issues with them :crossed:
Hudson ate exactly one in his life. It upset his tummy and he started to vomit and his back end was a mess. Eighteen hours later he was still vomiting (not rapid fire, but whenever he ate or drank). So we went to the vet, and he was seriously dehydrated, and he ended up spending twenty four hours on fluids and under observation.

All was fine in the end, but that was his first, last and ONLY dentastix experience.
We won't get them ever simply because Jen won't pick up the slimy things...

We are looking for a good alternative.

Are we speaking about the same dentastix? The ones we give Mady she eats them all within 60 seconds. There is nothing leftover.

I have given my kids denta-stix exactly once as well. They loved them but the denta-stix did not love my kids. All 4 of them (this was after Michele had to flee to protect the other 4) got upset stomachs but they "expressed" their discomfort from the opposite end as Hudson. 3 days later they were finally able to produce a semi-normal stool. A few days after that I finally got their butts and the house cleaned up and smelling a little more "normal". Never ever again!!
