I'm left on my own for this...

So I want to get Mady some big colourful bows, especially a red velvet one for Christmas. Apparently, Kim told me I am on my own for this. I don't have the foggiest idea where one would go to find something like that. A craft store? A department store? My baby girl needs some bling!!!

Eh...I'm pretty cheesy and just buy the Christmas decoration ones.

Given your obsession with her derriere this decorative approach, or some facimile thereof, may work for you:

 I forgot about "bow butt".......

Well, Dave, time for you to go to the web and find those bow making videos. Then off to Hobby Lobby or some such for your selection of holiday ribbon. If it seems unmanly, remember every florist, man or woman, starts by learning how to make bows.

Some of my fondest memories were trying to teach guys in college hort classes how to make bows. They'd start out all thumbs but quickly caught on.......told them if they could wire an electrical box, this was child's play........that appealed to their maniless.....tho I don't think many could do the wiring either.
David

You can also try Pet stores, they have stuff like this. Try Bark & Fitz.
Kristine, you made me laugh aloud with the bow butt!!!

David, Charm has some cute bling from Claire's, don't know if you have those stores in Canada though.

So let me get this straight, if I think making bows is not very manly, I just have to think how every florist started off learning how to make bows???

I'm sure most NFL quarterbacks also had to learn how to make bows too
Just so that I understand this, David is now reading romance novels and learning how to make bows? Ron, since this forum obviously has magical powers, can you make David want to learn how to cook and clean and sew buttons on his own darn shirts?

Don't worry, I have a weekend of beer, belching, and watching things blow up planned. :sidestep:
David, my advice...go into a florist, buy some fabric ribbon, asking nicely if they will make a few bows for you/Mady, and while you are there buy some flowers for your other girl!
It is a win-win situation :high5:

peg and howie
Peg has some great advice for you! Always good idea to keep in good with the Mama!

Do you have dollar stores where you live? They have hair accessories. Our grocery stores here have an aisle with hair accessories. Just trying to think how it could be made the easiest for you.

You can also go to kids and baby stores, craft and hobby stores, Christmas and wrapping ribbon work great, department stores in the little girl's dept. Some Malls have accessory stores as well.

Don't some of the forum members make bling and sell it as well? Thought I remembered seeing some posts about that.

To make it super easy since you're a guy, it can be as simple as getting some wrapping paper ribbon and tying a bow. :clappurple: I also like the multicolored and decorated clips from the dollar stores, they stay in and there's lots of styles and colors with different variations of bling and simplicity to choose from.

The most important thing is to take lots of pictures as you try options out! :yay:

You're probably right, I have probably walked past aisles of the stuff all my life, and it has never registered.
^^^^ I like Peg's idea :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
You can buy velvet bows of all shapes, sizes, and colors at the drug store or even the grocery store. Just look in the Christmas decorations aisle.

And Rosey Grier, very large football player, needlepoints. There are several men on my rubberstamping bulletin board. So crafts aren't just for women!
David..

All of the suggestions are great!! So let the shopping begin!!!!

Anywhere I go, I always make sure to hit the kids dept. and the jewlery dept. I can make anything interesting into a bling for Heart. There are now, those stretchy rings with big jewels and they are so easy to use as decoration. Just put Mady's hair in a topknot. then put the stretchy ring over it...THEN, another rubber band to secure it on top. I have found that if she tries to shake it off and is not successful, she will just leave it alone.

For Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas bows. Look for something YOU like and then go for it!!!

Can't wait to see Mady with her new do's.. :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:

Go down to the Dollarama stores, they have tons of this stuff and real cheap - you won't believe what you can get for just a few bucks.
:santa2:
Doh! Better the Dollar Store than me having to sweet talk one of the very manly MALE florists in town to fly back there and demonstrate bow making while you two quaff a few brews, pass gas, scratch in Man-Bonding ritual.

David,

I was looking (still in need) for an extra large raincoat for Howie, and came across this Canadian website. They have bows and other bling for Mady. :clappurple:

Oh what have you done??? He is probably looking for his credit card now. How will the sheep take her seriously if she has bows? I did not expect David to be a bow kinda guy.
Oops, sorry.

Just think, when you are away in Budapest you and David might find some very cool ribbon there.
