Heaving???

Well... bloo is 6 months.
He gets hiccups alot, but just lately he keeps heaving up flem and bile (white clear spit) sometimes he can throw up, sometimes itll be nothing? He coughs alot too. Is it normal for oes or should i get him checed out??? He hasnt eaten anything he just keeps heaving up spit?? :( im really confused.

Last month he had the flu i think, was sick dozens of time and had diahrea, but now he just heaves and coughs. It can be really loud and disturbing at times, i massage his tummy when he starts and let him out for fresh air :)

What do you think???

He eats Beta puppy large breed dry biscuits, and pedigree or butchers meat, 3-4 times per day??

Also he had really bad wind he stinks!!! Is this normal for them to have such bad flatulance problems haha :P :cyclops:

My first thought is kennel cough, or a worm infestation. You should probably take him to the vet and have him checked out. They might want a fecal sample, if worms are suspected.

Laurie and Oscar
I would definately get to the Vet. The coughing could be kennel cough and with a pup, needs tratment. Is there anyway he could have eaten something that is causing a blockage? How are his poops...

I don't like that he has been sick on and off a while and cannot keep anything down. At that age, he could dehydrate if he can't hold anything down...A vet visit, and sooner rather than later, is definately in order.

It sounds like he may have a stomach/intestinal problem and/or the food may not be agreeing with him.
Dogs with a normal gut on a dog food that's compatible to that individual dog don't stink. I'd take him in
to be checked because no... it's not normal.
thankyou everyone. Bloo has been wormed at 5 months as he sicked up a big worm!!!

He hasnt got worms now though, his poos are solid and soft, sometimes can be black and hard.
he only coughs like each day a few times if that, just mentioned it.

I will keep telling my mom to book him into vets (cats gotta go too) he can be fine all day then heave up flem :( Wondered if he had blockage but he has been eating and drinking ok. Last time he was sick was Yesterday, today he heaved twice after training. (dont know if thats because hed eaten alot of different things.) I will definately get vets knowledge on the matter though, as i really dont want bloo to be ill at a young age!!! :( :( :(
(he does eat a lot of stones and bricks in ther garden, i have to get them out his mouth around 100 times a day lol:P)

THANKS A LOT FOR THE ADVICE, :sidestep:

If he's only been wormed once than there is a possibility of him still having worms. Puppies are often wormed 2-3 times before all the worms are gone.

If he is eating stones and bricks in your mom's garden he could have a serious blockage. (not really an LOL thing, it's serious) If he is being allowed to eat rocks and bricks outside, he needs to be watched closer so things like blockage and broken teeth don't happen.

Either way he needs to go to the vet.
My nans gardens full of gravel etc... im out all day at school, so its possible hes eating that. My garden is puppy proof, we stipped it before bloo came. When im at nans i keep an eye on him, and chase him round the garden to get the bricks out his mouth. He also likes to eat nans rose bush which shes not happy about, he has plenty of raw hind bones, toys, teething chews etc... but hed rather eat the bushes.(which are now twigs)
Bloo digs alot and likes to eat mud because he is strange, his face is always mucky! Im thinking he is eating too much mud and things he shouldnt be eating.

Mom said he has to be checked soon at the vets anyway because we need to check him before neutering, we will get him checked out soon :) Hope its nothing serious, i think he is picking things up at nans that he shouldnt be because she just leaves the door open and doesnt check him. (ALso i dont know what she feeds him) - toast, leftover knowing my nan, ive told her enough times, but im not convinced.

Anyway thanks Aninnocentevil, moms going to get him checked along with neutering and microchiipping end of october hopefully :P THANKSSSSS :P
If he even possibly is eating any stones and rocks. you could have a SERIOUS problem Fatal even......If he is vomitting on and off...he could have a partial blockage...and the poop...if its black it is a BIG problem. Please take him to the Vet as soon as possible...The coughing may not be a cough but may be an attempt to dislodge something...very serious...please get to Vet...

That's really bad if he's actually eating them. He needs to be seen to rule out something stuck in his throat or
elsewhere. Black poo can be a sign of blood. Not only can obstruction be very painful and life threatening, it's a big medical
bill if surgery is required.

He needs to be supervised outdoors 100% of the time since he's proven he'll eat very inappropriate things. It will protect
him but also teach him limits. Maybe leave a bag of appropriate food at your nan's house so he gets the nutrition he needs
and a crate where he can stay during the times he can't be supervised.

Hoping he'll be ok.
Oooh yucks!! Vet immediately to keep him safe - this is the starting point!
:!: :!: :!: Take him to the vets ASAP, be sure to explain EVERYTHING as all the details are important, including that he's trying to eat stones all the time.

Eating stuff in the garden is really, really bad. Stones can cause a fatal blockage and your baby is clearly unwell. Also if he eats snails and slugs, that can be bad too. Try to go with your mum/dad whoever looks after the dog during the day, as they also need to understand how important it is that your dog is constantly watched at this age. My boy is 4 years old & I still have to watch him when he's outside in case he eats anything! From the things you have said here, I would say it's very important to make an appointment as soon as possible.

The part about being sick after training- oes usually have a VERY delicate stomach. Rufus cannot tolerate too many treats or much canned food, I keep him on dry complete biscuits (my breeder recommended pro plan) if you are going to change the food, do it gradually so it's not a shock to his system. Also watch that he's not drinking too much water all in one go because this is also a common problem with oes- sometimes they don't know when to stop- they drink until they are sick! If at training you used too many treats (or treats he can't tolerate well) this could make him sick. These could also make him extra thirsty, maybe he got hot, excited, maybe had a car journey, drank extra water.... ALL these things can make a sheepie puke 8O

Let us know how you get on :ghug:

Keep in mind that the worms you will be able to see - roundworms (probably what he sicked up), and tapeworms (the segments break off and look like rice in his stool) - aren't the only worms he can get. Hookworms, whipworms, etc., can only be seen under the microscope. Definitely get a stool sample checked.

As for the possibility that he's eating stones and gravel, that can be a very serious problem. Vet visit, now rather than later, is crucial.

Good luck! Hope you get this resolved quickly!
Thank, i will definately have a word with nan and grandad about this.

I will keep moaning at my mom until she gets him in the vets :P
Hope he will be ok, youve scared me now saying he could have a blockage or blood in him! :( I hope he will be okay. He seems to flop quicker after a good run too! I think maybe this may be the answer thankyou so much for the feedback i really appreciate it.

Will let you all kn how bloo gets on as soon as!!!!!!
Would like to say mom phoned vet today. she said if he isnt choking and coughing constantly theres nothing to worry about :P :clappurple:

I will still check him out when hes neutured but im happy hes okay!
I've never, ever, heard of a vet who would give any info or estimate a dogs well being over the phone.... but good luck. Hope he really is ok.
I second that...with those symptoms and the description of him possibly eating stones and gravel, I can't imagine a vet sayng its okay without a look...Hope he is really okay...but if I were you, I would be calling either a different Vet or the same one telling about the possibility of eating the gravel, the heaving, the chocking, etc....If you don't give the Vet the proper symptoms, he won't know how serious this could be......Good Luck. Keep us posted. Hope he is okay...
I know not very goodphone but still wil get him checked by the main vet stephen when he goes for the chop :) Will keep you dated
