Idea for next book for book club

Hopeing everyone is well on their way to reading our first book, "The Search". We'll be starting to discuss it next weekend.

Meanwhile, looking ahead for those that get the books from the library and may need to reserve...was recommended a book about a dog's view of life...I believe the book ois written from a dog's point of view so thaought it might be a fun read.

"The Art of Racing in the Rain"....want to give it a try for our next book reading?

This one came so heavily recommended by a friend of mine that though I may not have time to participate in any book club discussion for the next few months, it's at the top of my "must read" list. Good choice.

Kristine
I have never heard of it, but if it comes highly recommended, it sounds like a good choice.
Well, then, it is the Next choice!

After we finish "The Search" we will proceed with "The Art of Racing in the Rain". :clappurple: :clappurple:

Ha, I caught that one!!

Nope, sorry to say I can't claim this.
Some of my best dog friends recommend this book. Its a story told from a dogs point of view...and David can rest assured there is no romance! Let's give it a try!

David, you pick book number three so start thinking...
I think it sounds great! I am in for it!
In looking for this new book, it seems there are two almost identical titles by the same author. the one recommended to me was
"The Art of Racing in the Rain".....so I'm going with that one. ther is another titled "Racing in the Rain" and not sure if its the same thing so if possible, get "The ART of Racing in the Rain" so we are all on the same pages...

Interesting...

I see the Art one is a release date of 2009 and the other one 2011. I did a preview and the 1st pages are identical text.
But, the Art kindle edition is $9.99 and the other is only $6.99 :lmt:

If I go the kindle route, I likely will get the cheaper one. But I am going to check library availability 1st.

edit: - I found the difference!
In looking at my library system online, it says the Racing one is the young adult version - Junior fiction!
So yes, we want to get the ART version :D

And our library system has 11 copies! So it's out there and available in libraries :clappurple: :clappurple:
Thanks for that clarification! Great! I just ordered mine...
What an excellent idea to have a book club!! Ok - I'm not ready to join yet, but I definitely plan to in the future!!! FUN!!! If I forget, someone pm me so I get back in gear!! :D
Another good book is " The Other" by Deen Koonz. The main character is a Golden Retriever named Einstein. It is a good read. I think I have read it 6-7 times. Or is it "The Watchers"? Anyway, the dog's name is Einstein. That I'm sure of. Check it out.
One more suggestion:

http://www.amazon.com/Lunatic-Express-D ... RGUFXVLDVW

I had the pleasure to listen to an interview with the author on NPR. A book like this, in my opinion, would help us all appreciate who we are and where we are...
I am sorry: I ended up having a lot of stuff going on for the first book. I have been wanting to read The Art of Racing in the Rain, so I would vote for that. Lunatic Express also sounds very interesting.
Please may I join in? :D
Moontime......jump in!!

Art of Racing will appeal to guys.......I used to be a big Formula One fan so this brings back memories. (Yeah, I've been reading ahead)....but don't worry ladies, it's not all about racing.....hardly! I'll tell you, since I've begun reading it I'm looking at my dogs a bit differently.
Oh Yes, You can join in with us at any time!!!

So, we have completed our first book, The Search - although I don't see much discussaion for the last Part :(

Our new book is "The Art of Racing in the Rain"...and yes, I have already completed it. It is not a girly book so the men should be okay with this choice.

We will be completed with the reading before we discuss...I figure, tww weeks for everyone to finish????

I will be making a seperate subject line under this forum..it will say The Art of Racing in the Rain discussion...Everyone is welcome to participate
I requested it at the library...guess I better call tomorrow and check the status!
