Patty Update

I've been so busy lately but have wanted to update regarding Patty's progress for sometime. For those of you who are new or don't remember us. We rescued Patty off an internet add on Craigslist in July. I would say we adopted her but she was in really bad shape when we got her, so bad I wasn't sure she was going to live:( As soon as she started feeling better health wise, some other behaviors started to surface, she bit my son, growled at my little one etc. The first trainer I called said we HAD to put her down, she said that we could not rehome her since she now has a bite history. I cried and cried and then found all of YOU!!! Between your wonderful support, and finding a trainer in our area who has experience with aggression issues, we are doing GREAT. Patty is now four weeks into the advanced training class and is the star of the class. Although she is rarely as "perfect" at home as she is in class. She is wonderful around the kids now, although I'm smart enough not to leave her alone with them. I have tears in my eyes now for how far we have come. It has taken a lot of work with her everyday and I'm sure it will continue to be a lot of work but the love and devotion she has for my whole family now is incredible.

Just wanted to give a quick update!

Thank all,

Heidi

I do remember you!

Thank you so much for the update and for going above what most would have done. A good trainer is worth their weight in gold.

Don't stay away so long now, we love to hear about Patty!!!!!!!

Keep up the great work!!!!

Kristine
Great news! So glad you were willing to go the distance with her! :clappurple: :clappurple:
Wonderful news! I am sure it will inspire the next person who has similar challenges. Congratulations to you and your family, and to Patty! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
I am so glad I peeked in one more time before bed and caught this update. It us such a happy story and I'm thrilled things are working out for your family with Patty. Thanks for sharing!
Just another quick update. Patty is still doing great! I'm so glad I did NOT listen to the first trainer, who told me over the phone that the only solution was to put her down. Patty has become such a loving part of our family. I'm going to try to post a picture from the first day we brought her home and then a recent picture. A lot of work and a lot of $$ for classes but well well worth it. I'm sure some people wouldn't need to shell out for classes but honestly I think the classes were more for me than Patty!

A big Thank you again for all of the wonderful support and care I received through this forum, without it I'm not sure this would be a happy ending.

Much Love,
Heidi

she is beautiful and looks so happy. AND she sits for a picture! Something Ryleigh still wont do. haha Good job!! :clappurple: :clappurple:
Congratulations on all the hard work!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: It paid off big time. :excited: It is tough when you don't know the history. I too, had a tough one. He is lucky he is alive. After he bit me in the face, I took him in to be put down. Long story short, after LOTS OF LOVE, PATIENCE AND TRAINING, he learned to trust and respond. It took many months, but it worked. Oliver is the biggest goofball. He still likes to show me his teeth occasionally, (it isn't always a smile) but he will still give me a kiss with his lip up. I am glad I kept him. :yay: :yay: :cheer: :hearts:
Good job!! :cheer: :cheer:

Those before and after pictures really say it all :aww: :aww:
Wonderful news! Thank you for sticking with her.........and knowing you can never really trust her completely. What, 8-9 years we've had Jack he still growls when he is resource guarding and has snapped at me. He's totally devoted to us, but that mouth can never be trusted.

Big hugs to you and Patty :ghug:
Thank you for sticking with her. I'm sure she appreciates it.
You've done a great job! Patty looks great!
