Very Sad Day.

I knew this day would come yet I was dreading it. It happens every year and you can't get away from it.

Its the last day of summer.

The time for shorts and t's are gone again. I have to put away my tank tops and pull out the long sleeves. I may have cut the grass for the last time of the season today. We are losing three minutes of sunlight every day.

Started to talk about having fires in the fireplace. Putting the electric blanket on the bed. I actually turned the furnace on for about an hour just the other day just to take the chill out. My hair is getting static electricity. The dogs have a lot more "pep".

I REALLY, REALLY hate this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how you all up there do it!
Different mindset around here! We are lavishing in the beautiful temperatures and so grateful the Days of Hades are over. Still haven't turned the A/C off!
I am soooo excited to have cooler temps--no more dripping all over when just walking out the door--no more flat hair--sweater weather is my FAVORITE!

Our best friends who live in Wisconsin are sad too--they love summer and hate winter there!
It's mixed for me. I love the cooler weather, the drop in humidity. I am the most active in the fall, just because it's so nice out.

While I love winter sports and activities, it makes daily life, especially on a farm more work.
Stock tanks need heaters, animals need hay every day instead of just able to graze on the pasture.
Lots of dog poop to worry about losing in the next snow storm.....
I'm still wearing t-shirts & shorts here in Syracuse.
It was in the high 70s yesterday and today and will be for the next 5 or 6 days.
It's raining off & on, but still relatively warm.
Still a lot of good weather left before the snow comes.
Considering we just survived the hotest summer on record for any of the states, I am not sad to see it go.
We are about to enter Stage 3 water rationing - we can water the lawn once every two weeks - with a Stage 4 a possibility this winter (no clue what it means).

It's sad to see people with sweaters and jackets on for temps in the mid 70s, but it is happening here.

Please send water our way. TIA
I too wore shorts and a t-shirt when cutting grass yesterday. I fear this will be the last time this year. I would love 75 degrees all year round! Sadly for the next several days it's supposed to be 60's and chance of rain. It's supposed to be about the same in Dayton for our Sheep-In. I really hope the rain holds off for us on saturday.

You scared me! I thought something really bad/sad had happened!
We have hardly any summer at all in the UK, so you just think yourself lucky..... :santa:
I have to mow right now.
But that won't be the last time. I typically have to mow upto late October, early November.
I know what you mean about being sad that Summer is over. When I lived in Michigan I used to feel the same way....now in Florida, love it all year long. We did have a cold winter last year, but hope all goes back to normal this Winter.

I'm going up to Michigan near the end of Oct and I'm a little concerned about the cold...it has been know to snow on Halloween...so I've freeze. lol Oh well, Michigan is beautiful in the Fall and I get to see my son/daughter in law and granddaughter. :)also my sisters.
I am doing a happy dance that summer is over! It could be that because I am, err, naturally insulated, I feel the heat more than a svelt gal like you, Pam. I would happily send you some of that insulation!
36 and sunny here this morning.....just warning you Pam what's coming! :sidestep:

I will qualify that with the fact that it's supposed to be the last cold morning for awhile - really looking forward to the predicted 70 degree days with 50 nights. Should be great!
We're 49 right now and have the heat taking the chill off. Get done paying for a/c and start paying for heat; that's life in WI.

Suppose to warm up and rain over the weekend and into the 70's next wk. Going down to Waukesha to do some work on our daughter's house so hope the weather stays half-way decent for that.
I'm thankful to see the back end of summer. Fall is my favorite season, but it's just a flash between summer and winter.

Did you all know that there is a summer seasonal affective disorder? It produces the same symptoms as winter disorder (SADD) but it's not as common so there is no medical research on it. I'm convinced I have it. I'd like to hibernate in summer and come out when the temps stay below 65.
Here it was 49 this a.m., 50's in the city. Pulled on a long sleeve tshirt as I got up. Harry and I are back to snuggling at night.....and I'm looking for any extra inch on the bed.
I didn't invite him back, he invited himself.

Yesterday I was painting a baker's rack outside and had to pull off my shirt, I was dripping sweat........neighbors are far enough way, I hope. Still 80's day. It is lovely weather.

Still mowing and irrigating until end of October. Cooler has been turned off and the furnace is on. I hate heat and cold, so right now I'm happy.
I am doing the happy dance summer is over too   I am tired of all that humidty and thick air. makes me so tired and sweaty and grumpy...

Now remind me I said that when its snowing and below zero
I love fall and the beginning of winter. Happy to break out the hoodies and sweaters and watch football, have fires, and best of all the dogs are energetic and snuggly!

I am dreading January 2nd though... from then to about June 1st is my least favorite time of year.
arrrggggg...its going to be 107 today....

I could not stand it. I know a lot of people love the hot weather and some even like the hot, humid weather but I am not one of them. My head sweats so bad that my hair is plastered to my head, very attractive.

I was in AZ, Calif, NM and Lousianna in Aug once when I got to go on the road with my husband. Was 20 years younger and still couldn't stand it. My face got redder and my hair got blonder (that was ok) and my feet burned thru the bottoms of my shoes.
ive actually melted the bottom of my tennis shoes before.... 8O

This year has been completely disgraceful. Mind you, today was quite pleasant (sunny, warm, not hot.) down in London. But as for now at 1am.... I'm FREEZING! I won't resign myself to turning the heating on though.

Best time to raise a sheepie puppy here in Cincy~ :wag:
