youtube as a learning resource

Does anyone else use youtube as a resource to learn new skills, etc?

I am a visual learner and right now I am using it to help Harry with the next level of obedience. I just intended to look at other people in competition but actually stumbled across an instructional video. It not only showed me the proper signals and commands but also suggested breaking the exercise into parts and not working them together until the dog had mastered both parts. That was a great idea.

I recommended youtube to a friend who I was trying to explain needlepoint over the phone and she wasn't understanding what I was saying. She had ordered a kit through the mail and wanted more instruction than the kit gave her. I was trying to explain the "basket weave" stitch to keep the canvas from stretching.

I know you can find cooking instructions too.

Anything else?

Yes, I do. The latest project I watched was how to finish drywall. We are helping my sister and husband fix up an old house. I have done drywall before so they wanted me to do the finish. The problem was that I had never done an inside arch before.... I wanted to do a good job so I watched numerous videos of how to do it. I am a visual learner also. Well after much worrying and swetting the job came out beautiful. I am proud of myself and my sister loves the wall.
I have learned about French cooking on youtube! I also learned how to tie a roast beef and a chicken before baking them. I use it mostly for cooking, and to watch old Queen videos and mourn Freddie Mercury. If you find good agility or herding links, please post them!
I use it - I used a cooking site to show Todd how to make the turducken he made last fall for Thanksgiving.
I also used it with Crockpot Girls (also is a FB page) to get a southwestern breakfast bake recipe.

LeAnne uses it ALL the time - her biggest thing is getting instruction for updo hairstyles and then she does her own fun styles.
She also uses it for craft projects - her latest was dice bags.

I watched them when I was learning CPE agility rules and I wanted to see what the various games were actually looking like - kind of hard to understand just from a written description. It helped immensely.
All the time! I used it recently to figure out imovie.

I never thought to use it for dog obedience, but that is really smart. One of our trainers sends me videos sometimes and they are always so helpful because I tend to be more visual. We're trying to teach Rude boy "go to place" and we're at a bit of an impasse so maybe I'll check some videos out tonight!
khanacademy.com has a lot of videos on youtube, mostly pertaining to math and science. Started as a guy who was helping tutor his cousin across country, and grew from there.

I still don't usually remember to look on youtube for instructional videos, but it had great potential.
YUP!!
1. Used it to learn how to use a sewing machine.
Instruction manual just was gibberish from beginning to end.
Now I can make all the dog collars and leashes I want!!!
I'm going to make a nice doggy bed next week!

2. Use it to learn songs on my ukulele
As a car guy, YouTube is a huge resource of how-to videos. The last one was a video that saved me about $1500 on a clutch repair to correct a design flaw. I ended up subscribing to that guy's YouTube page he was so helpful.

I have used it to learn some sewing machine basics and a few other little things. I always thought there should be videos on how to groom & trim a sheepie :plead:
