New Range!

Not really a true cooking question but I am getting my new range after almost six months of no kitchen! Getting BlueStar pro, 6 burner all gas...like they use on Iron Chef! And no self cleaning feature - which set my house on fire with my Thermador!

Anyway, what should I cook for my firstr real meal in almost 6 months? I LOVE to cook and have been getting by with the crock pot, micro and toaster oven but soon I will ahve a real life range!!!! what should I make????

When does it come in?

I still haven't made anything special yet on my humble little KitchenAid. Oh, did grill up a lovely huge ribeye that DH and I swooned over as we ate. Still have yet to use the oven.
I vote for Beer Can Chicken (to christen the oven), risotto (to christen the stovetop), and a yummy fresh salad. Don't forget the wine!

Congratulations. (And I am extremely jealous!)
mmmm. this looks good!

What did you decide to cook? And what time should we all head over for supper?
Well, range not installed yet! Still have some tile work and hood to go in..This has been sooo long coming. Almost six months...We'be been doing the grilling thing outsdie but the weather is changing hear so couldn't have happened at a better time...

Doggys will be so happy when I can grill up thier doggy steak again!!!!
Beer can chicken... Don't use a beer can. They are lined with an epoxy that you probably don't want melting and vaporizing and permeating your chicken. Put the chicken on a nice stainless steel rack! :D :D :D

For the first meal, I vote for cooking something that is relatively easy to do BUT will require all 6 burners! :D :D :D Something you can't cook outside, perhaps.
Do you have a griddle? Maybe pancakes? Steak and cheese subs?

Maybe a breakfast, with poached eggs and homefries and bacon and French toast and pancakes, leaving one burner for a pot of coffee! :D :D :D

I love that idea....in fact it's my favorite meal and Todd actually makes it!~ He's into big breakfasts...but he would have to add in chicken fried steak with gravy for himself as well....
I swear, he must have a tapeworm..he stays like a stick and eats like a horse!
Oh, I love chicken fried steak but tried to make it a couple of times and it wasn't so good.
Using all six burners at once would be quite an experience! Its a BlueStar and two of the burners are 22 btus and the other two at 15 I believe...which means all six at once would be REALLY hot!

Might be getting it installed next week. So excited! we haven't had a kitchen ( nor half of my house ) for going on 6 months!!!! Will be so nice to get back to normal - especially with the colder weather coming...
Sounds like a wonderful stove. I would love something better than what I have.
I hope there are knobs that can adjust those burners down to a reasonable level! LOL :cow:

Otherwise it might be the DeathStar or the BlueNova!
The burners are completely adjustable and able to lower those 22 BTUs down to a low simmer...trust me, had one fire due to a defective range. Did my research on this one!
That's a complaint I have about my run of the mill stove. Even with the supposed low burner it's still not low enough.

My daughter the one that doesn't cook has a very nice GE with all the bells and whistles I would love. Came with her house and it looks as good as the day she moved in unless I get to use it.
You guys are making me hungry!

I feel your pain, I only just got a kitchen after 4 years of having no floor, huge holes in the walls and no work surfaces, just the top of the washing machine to prepare food on! I want to know what you are going to cook! :excited:

i'm with you on that cassie. when diane brought up the book club, i thought the 1st book was gonna be a cookbook. if she soon doesn't start cookin, i'm gonna show up w/groceries and play w/her dogs and start cookin. :D

did you get a bargain on your place as it was bombed out during ww11? :cow:

:sidestep:
Well, the darn thing was delivered but they couldn't install   The gas line needs to be moved an inch or so and only a master plumber can move a gas line. So, my plumber will be coming this week...I waited six months for this. I guess I can wait another week :headbang:
