Chicagoland Sheepiefest 7 - Saturday, October 8!

I went with the date that had the most votes, so Sheepiefest 7 will be Saturday October 8th. I'm bummed some people won't be able to make it, I wish we found a date everyone could attend :/ You will all be with us in sheepie spirit though.

It will be held at Best Friends Pet Care in their large outdoor area, so it will be offleash play for all!
22096 North Pet Lane
Lincolnshire, IL 60069-4112
(847) 634-9444

We have the space from 10am-2pm. How does that sound?

There is a small gazebo with some tables. I will also bring some folding tables, but bring some lawn chairs if youd like a spot to relax in.

It would be great if people can sign up for stuff, so please just post here or PM me if you want to sign up, I'll update the list periodically.

FOOD: a couple of shared dishes, some snacks, desserts, plates, utensils, napkins
DOG SNACKS: I am getting a dog cake for all the pups to share
DRINKS: pop, water, cups

I'd also like to have a small fundraising element again, for Midwest OES Rescue. Should we do a raffle? Donation drive? Something else? Ideas are welcome!
Respond to this topic here on forum.oes.org
That sounds good to me Heather. I have a cooler on wheels and could bring the water and pop if you like. Also to raise money the auction thing is always fun and I could bring a few sheepie items to donate for the auction or raffle if you decide on that.

Cindy
Here's a flyer I made... please share with chicagoland sheepies!

Wellllllllllll, up until "NOW" I have been lazy looking at the calender to see when I work and when I'm off.

It seems I have to put a "Save the Date" on my calender :D

Dh, Simon, Gar and I will be there!!!

I vote for donations.
Woo Hoo!!

It is on the calendar. I will think about what people food we can bring :lmt:

I vote for donations or a raffle. If we do a silent auction I have the auction sheets we have used before and can bring them.
Is 11-2 enough time? Should we do 11-3?

The only thing with supply donations is I'm not sure if anyone could get them to Nancy or Nita. If we do a raffle/silent auction we could just send them a check. I already have 2 great items :)
I'm thinking it should be 11-3. Three hours isn't long enough to visit and eat and pet doggies!
DARN IT!!! It's right around the corner from me and I will be out of town for the weekend at my little nephew's birthday party. I'm so sad. I'd much rather be with all of you.

Seiously, I'm so bummed. I won't tell Fozzie :( My Mom is staying with him that weekend and I know she won't bring him. So unless someone would like to volunteer to pick him up and be his guardian for the day...
Thanks for possibly, Heather. I am so upset we cannot attend.
I'm sorry Stacy :( We'll definitely miss you and Foz.
We'll be in Winston-Salem for the TOES Picnic and won't be able to make it. Hope you guys have great weather, a large turnout and lots of food and fun! :cheer:
Hi Guys..... Just wanted to throw this out there- I haven't gotten a great response, so what do you all think of just having a little meet up at Chicagoland OES club's dog days on October 23?
We're planning on being there.
How many were you hoping to get? I'm looking forward to this get together because I'm working the weekend of the 23rd and can't attend the Chicagoland picnic. I have another friend and her Sheepie from Chicago that is also planning to attend on the 8th.

Cindy
We are not planning on going to the Chicagoland event. Maybe we can look at the attendees in a post from the last few years and send PM's about Sheepiefest?
I'm working the 23rd also so that would be out for me.
Ok, we'll keep it the 8th! Just an idea, but glad to see that everyone is still planning on coming and are excited about it.
The people who can't make it to SheepieFest! on October 8 can go to the event on the 23rd and vice versa. Just think, 2 opportunities to see friends and have a good time.

I will be there on the 8th. Now to think about what to bring :lmt:
I certainly wish we could make it to SheepieFest! but October 8th is a religious holiday for us.

We'll be there for Dog Day Afternoon. Looking forward to seeing all you.

Heather, thanks for keeping the SheepieFest! dream alive
Whats going on on the 23rd and where. We can't make it the 8th but would love to see everyone again.

Lisa Frankie and Mattie
Nola, Sam (our honorary sheepie), and I will be there!

WOOHOO!!!

Heather, what's already knocked off the list of things to bring? Just let me know...I can do chili again...or a cake...or anything really! :) Just let me know and thanks for organizing this year!

Kate
We can totally make the 8th! On the 23rd, Asterisk and I will be in Michigan to see family and bring home our momma persian kitty :clappurple: :clappurple:

Let me know what you'd like us to bring. It will take us a good 3 hours to get to Chi town so, its easiest if we don't have to bring any items that need to be kept refrigerated or cool. We can bring pop, chips, doggie cookies, just let me know what you need!
so far:

Cindy: water and pop
Heather: dog cake and people cake

so some snacks and people food would be great!
I'll bring cold cuts and bread and fixins to make sammiches. Turkey and cheese and lettuce and maters and sliced onions and mustard. OK??????
ok!

Heather: dog cake and people cake
Cindy: water and pop
Paula: sandwich supplies

We could use some chips, snacks, and then plates/cups/napkins. Kate if you want to bring chili again I think that would be awesome!

And I have a count of:
Humans: 12 (may have missed some spouses)
Dog: 10 sheepies, 2 "others"

Can anyone think of anyone that may have not seen this thread that might come? I can't remember the name of the girl and her boyfriend that came last year that saw this on the forum.. anyone know if they have a forum name?
If anyone still subscribes to the OES (the big one) mailing list, please post this info. We usually get a few people from over there. I'm on the smaller list (with Sheepieboss) so I'll post there.
Heather, I can bring the chips, it is easier to transport since I won't have to worry about refrigeration. I'll have to make sure to groom the dogs real well for the trip. I hope it doesn't get terribly wet like it did a few years back. I'll make sure to pack some extra towels just in case!
Izzie volunteered tequila shots but I told her everyone may not like tequila as much as she does. How about we bring salads...potato salad, coleslaw...etc?
Izzie can bring the shots as long as she's not driving.

Potato salad, YUM.
Well, after much beggin and talking crying and pouting, we are going !!

You can count on Silly Tilly, Monica and Kathy for the picnic

Will bring the plates and cups or just tell me what do you need
Yes! St. Louis is representin'! We're not as fancy as Sheepiepalooza, but we're just as much fun.
Awesome!! The list is growing.. Nita is sending some local adopters as well.
Heather, what do we have on the list so far and still needed? I'm sure my friend Janet and her sheepie BeBe will want to contribute also. I can call her and let her know of some choices.

Cindy
Heather: dog cake and people cake
Cindy: water and pop
Paula: sandwich supplies
Erin: Chips
Amanda: Salads and tequila
Monica: Plates, napkins, forks
I will be very, very close to you guys on the 8th.

Chewie and I are going to be in Freeport IL for TDI's Disaster Stress Relief Dog testing. It a 12 hr test, to see if we have what it takes to go into disasters and help people.

We are heading out Friday, and leaving Sunday...so if anyone is remotely in the area, Chewie would love to play :high5:
If it weren't for the fact that we leave for Europe in October, we would make the drive. I hope you have one next year!
I'll bring the chili and the fixins!!!

We all had so much fun at Sheep-In,

I am seriously thinking about attending Sheepiefest 7!!!

I am going to talk to Dino in the morning and will let you know if we will be attending.

After all, Heart DID have so much fun at the Sheep-in....

((I really think she did have fun watching all the other sheepies run and play...my girl is just sooooo shy,,,,maybe a few day trips to other sheepdog events is just the ticket to get her over HER issue..   ....)))

:crossed: :crossed: :crossed: :crossed: :crossed: :crossed:
YAY! That would be awesome Val! Just as another little incentive, I'm bringing more of those cookies.....lol

She is going to Camp Amber while we are gone. We did a tradesey! I might just steal Morgan and Virginia back when we return. I wonder if Amber will notice? :sidestep:
Boohoo
We're not going to make it because Nick's taking his exam on Monday and he's not letting us go without him!!!!!!!!!
Team Schubert has to stay at base for moral support. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
One week!

Was there a decision made about an auction/donation jars/ etc???
I have 3 items for the silent auction. If anyone else would like to bring something to donate, that would be great.

Here is Midwest OES' wishlist: http://www.midwestoesrescue.com/Midwest ... shlist.htm

If you want to donate something small, like a gift card, flea & tick meds, collars/leashes, I can send it to them after the event.
Heather do we need to bring proof of vaccination with us to the venue? Also, will there be access to water or should we bring our own water and bowls?
No proof of vaccines needed for the park. There will be water and water bowls.

Bring lawn chairs. It's supposed to be an absolutely beautiful day!

I have 2 or 3 things to add to the silent auction also. If you didn't count them already, I have a friend from Chicago that is also coming. Janet and BeBe.

Cindy
Great! I'll make sure to bring 1 or 2 items for the auction as well! WOOHOO! I can't WAIT! :)

sssh though...I haven't told the puppies yet. I was afraid they'd be too excited and not train well this week :)
Rudie is at the salon getting all puffed up. I'm going to wrap him in saran wrap when we go outside the next few days so he can't get dirty.

Here is the link to the location: http://www.bestfriendspetcare.com/
The closest intersection is Aptakisic and Weiland. When you're on Aptakisic you'll be able to see the big fenced in play area. There is a parking lot too.

Does anyone have a folding table they can bring? I'm not sure how many I'll be able to fit in my car and we may need an extra.
Amanda and I have a couple folding tables we can bring.
Great, thanks!

Also, we lost one of our food providers so if someone is still wondering what to bring... more snacks or lunch items please!
I was hoping to join you all, sans Mr. MRSA (aka Oscar), but hubby threw his back out on Sunday, and is still in excruciating pain. He's on all kinds of pain meds and muscle relaxants, and can barely move, so right now there's no way he can take Oscar out or feed him. :(

If hubby's back is better, I'll be there. It's practically in my backyard!
:crossed:

Laurie and Oscar
Being that it's going to be more like summer on Saturday than fall, I decided on a taco salad instead of chili! I can bring some snack items too, like doritos or chips or something.
I am the one finking out. I got an emergency call to dog sit Saturday. Of all things, a sheepie! Unfortunately she's not well-behaved enough to come to the picnic, and her mommy is afraid she will get into a fight. But everyone have a good time and I look forward to seeing many pictures.

We'll miss you Paula. We'll have to set up a time for you to meet Taylor while he is still small-ish :D
You guys have fun!

Chewie and I will actually be down the road a bit in Freeport IL.
I wish the 2 activities (our test and the OES picnic) didn't both have to be on exactly the same day!
I'm driving out Friday, and leaving Sunday am - so if anyone is in the vicinity, Chewie and I would love to meet. Just Saturday 8am to 8pm are out for me.
Heather...is this going to be a silent auction? Do you want me to bring the bidding sheets we have used in the past?

Yes and yes! I was going to make some today, but if you already have some that is perfect!

Is someone bringing plates, napkins, forks, cups? Just want to make sure.
Hi Heather,

I am going to try to come tomorrow. What can I bring? We are just getting in town from Orlando this afternoon so if you need anything like ice, pop, plates/napkins etc. That would be great. I can also pick up some snacks like chips. Let me know what your last minute needs are. :sidestep:

Sandy
Levi wanted me to share that he will happily donate lots of kisses and face washing to ANYONE who wants it.

Heather: dog cake and people cake
Cindy: water and pop
Erin: Chips
Amanda: Salads and tequila
Monica: Plates, napkins, forks
Kate: Taco salad

I guess we could use ice, cups and then maybe some more munchies?
I'll have the pop and water on ice in a big cooler so unless anyone doesn't like drinking out of a can or bottle we might not need extra ice. I have cans of Pepsi and Diet Pepsi and bottles of root beer and water. I'm also bringing OES shaped sugar cookies. See you all tomorrow!

Cindy & Teddy
It looks like we won't be able to make it this year. I got off the phone with Josh and he was in a car accident on his way home from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He seems to be okay, but there is now no way that I will be able to make it...

Oh no!! :( :(
1st concern is that he REALLY is OK, and then the car..... :( :(
Please update us, Erin!
Oh no! Hope he's really okay and gets home soon. We will all miss you there tomorrow.

:ghug:

Cindy
Erin, you worry about you and yours first. Sorry you can't make it but we understand. Glad Josh is ok.
It's Sheepiefest Day!!!!!

Erin, you'll be missed but glad everyone is ok!

I'm bringing taco salad, fruit salad, and some trail mix! I got a bit carried away in the kitchen this morning! See everyone soon!
We are here and will see you all later this morning !!
I hope everyone has a great time. I have to go and pick up my husband who is 2 1/2 hours away. He's had another mental breakdown. Once I get him back in town, it's off to the hospital to have him treated. I really wish we could have gone. Maybe next year.
So sorry Erin. Hope Josh and the car are just fine. Give Levi, Wendel and Asterisk some love from us.
Erin, I hope Josh is ok. :ghug:
We have a Sheepadoodle, can we still be part of the group?
