Me and my big mouth...Merry Christmas!

I have just started a new position as a vice principal. My new school is beautiful and well maintained and very well stocked (very different from my previous building despite being in the same division).

The staff has been exceptionally friendly and kind. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be there and how much I am loving it. School starts officially for staff on Tuesday, and the kids start Wednesday, and I even had a last minute job assignment switch (VPs are usually only half time here) for my other half. I was to do Kindergarten but am now taking the counsellor position instead. I am thrilled as I've always been interested in counselling, have some of my coursework (we had tons of applicants with no courses), and the two positions together will allow for tons of flexibility that having a classroom would not have. And, as an added bonus, I won't be writing report cards (which kills about thirty hours of my own weekend times three times a year) so that's just a nice bonus. I can sure use those bonus ninety hours for my admin tasks, like reading and proofing everyone else's. So what could go horribly wrong?

I was telling my principal about how much I've enjoyed having the family piano in my life this year and that I've been learning to play for about ten months now. I'm quite pleased by my progress for only ten MONTHS. Please note that word is spelled M O N T H S and in no way is pronounced YEARS. By MONTHS I mean periods of approximately thirty days, plus or minus one or two days.

Well, I'm not sure why I did this, but I have just volunteered to play the piano and accompany four hundred students during our annual Christmas Caroling. (The music teachers are not asked to do so as it's the day after the concerts conclude, and we do six concerts over three days). I was not coerced. It just came shooting out of my yap.

Ack! Guess what I'll be doing every moment of every day when I'm not at work.

I just ran out to the one decent music store in town and blew seventy bucks on Christmas Carols at my current level of skill (not absolute beginner, but still reasonably easy). The nice man at the store laughed at my predicament but was also very helpful.

Hubby is threatening to move out as I always rush the season but he feels that September second is definitely TOO EARLY. It will be all mistletoe and holly from here on in.

Well, gotta run. I've still got more practising to do.

Fa la la la la la la la WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Oh Tracey! What our big hearts will lead us into. Enjoy your music and tell your hubby Christmas will be over before he knows it. lol Good luck and congrats on your new position...have fun next week!
Don't get tendonitis in your hands practicing too much! Maybe a keyboard with ear phones would be better on husband's nerves.

Good luck with your practicing!

Cindy
Ahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

Nothing like a little incentive to focus the mind!

Get some familiarity with the instrument on which you'll be performing.

GOOOOOD LUUUUUCK!!!!!!!

I can see it now....

A VP, you big shot!! Congratulations! As to the piano playing, people will be so focused on the kids singing that it is ok if you make a mistake or two. I do feel for your husband, though. :tree: :tree: :tree: :santa: :santa: :santa:
The music will be a nice background with the halloween decorations.
Don't you sometimes wish we had a rewind or just an off switch for our mouths. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine.
You will do a great job! You have two and half more months to practice! :santa2:
Congratulations on the job. If it makes your feel any better at the school I work at, the kids sing so loud only the classes sitting near the pain can really hear the pain but my school has 350 or so K-4 students.

 Tracie you are going to be sooooooo sick of Christmas Carols

The good news is no one will notice your playing as they will be so busy watching their little "darlings" singing.

Your poor hubby.

Perhaps a little video progression :lmt:

You can take one now  and then give us a video "progress report" in a month. :sidestep:

Oh and congratulations on the new position as VP! :high5:

P.S. Ron ..... thanks for the great clip.

Hahah! That is so funny! Just think, learning them is the worst part, once you know all the songs, you will only need to practice every now & again to remember them. Christmas sing-alongs at your house every year from now on!
:yay:
Oh MY, Tracie!!!! 8O 8O 8O

You'll do fine, plenty of practice time! What a huge heart!!! :tree: :tree:

Congrats on the new job
That'll be your end of 2011 concert. Just don't get addicted to all the applauding :clappurple: cheering :cheer: popularity :roses: and demand

Congrats on the new position!
