Mattie has lost 17 pounds...

HIP HIP HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HIP HIP HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our little Miss Mattie is finally done dieting. She now weights 58 lbs. When we brought her home at the end of November she weighed 75 lbs. Troy says I have been starving her.
and I'm sure she feels the same way.
A combination of green beans and pumpkin mixed in with her kibble, and getting her thyroid under control.
We are so proud of her, and ourselves. I have a feeling maintaing is going to be the hard part.

Good job. Maybe now that her thyroid is under control it will be easier to keep the weight off.
Well done indeed! Yes, the thyroid is critical......if she drops much more though, have her rechecked, they can get too skinny. She is much healthier now and less stress on hips for later years.
I found the missing 17 pounds! They are on my hips! I will send them to Miss Mattie asap. Now off I go to find some green beans and pumpkins!
Good job for you guys. Mattie will be healthier for it.

Both my boys were overweight and I put them on the greenbean diet. Of course it worked and once I had them at a good weight I thought greenbeans every couple nights would do the trick. Well dh feeds the dogs and was not doing the greenbeans and guess what....they are holding their weight.

Of course they both try to convince you they are starving and will expire if they don't get what we are eating. :D
:yay:
That's fabulous!! Great job to both of you! :D
I thought she was looking pretty svelte and sassy in her recent picture!

That is excellent news!! :clappurple:

It's healthy for any dog (or human! ) to be at a healthy weight...but with Mattie's health concerns, it's even MORE important. :hearts:
