Sheepiefest - Chicagoland gathering

September is approaching, so shall we nail down a date for this year's Sheepiefest? We typically do early/mid October.

I am happy to take the reigns, hopefully with Kate helping again this year, but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for this year this would be the place!

Any of the days really work for us, so far. I just chose the first two Saturday's listed. 8)

Melissa and I can help with planning. Just let us know what you need. :yay: :yay:
I choose the 8th & the 15th because I'm off those Saturday's. Let me know if you need any help and what you might need me to bring.

Cindy
I chose Sat Oct 1st because it's the earliest date. :D!!!!!
I am available any of those dates.

W00T! Sheepiefest SEVEN!!

To those without sheepies and those without any dogs at all (like myself), EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
Is it #7?? I was trying to figure it out. Very exciting
I chose the second Saturday, I am planning on going to Michigan the following week and will potentially have work the first Saturday.

I hope you can find a nice off lead place! It's SSOOO much easier with the trifecta to let them run off and play with other dogs than trying to hold onto their lassos as they each go in different directions to greet different people and dogs. I can't wait for Sheepiefest 7 this year!
There is an off leash area in Buffalo Grove with a small gazebo for shade. I can see if we can have it there. I know of some indoor places in the city as well, but there would be some cost associated with that and I don't know if everyone wants to be indoor?

Definitely open to other ideas as well!
I sure hope more people can come! Does anyone have a list of members that came in past years that we can reach out to?
Heather - you may want to see when Chicagoland is holding their Dog Days (presuming they are this year - I'm a little surprised there's no info on their website, but maybe it's early yet).

Some times the promise of two back-to-back rescue days draws people from further away, though.

Note that that OESCA national specialty is the week of Oct 9th-14th and assume travel on both weekends before and after. Not sure how much that could impact attendance.

Once you've picked a date and so on I'd be happy to post it on a couple of the OES pet/rescue lists.

Who I remember coming from this group (and forgive me if I've forgotten anyone):

me
you (Heather RWM)
Amanda and Melissa
Mad Dog
Debcram
Stacy
Capt. Obvious Danger
Pam and Randy from WI

I wasn't able to go last year so I don't know who was there. As the date gets closer, more people commit.
HI Sheepie Friends!!!

I am more than willing to help this year. Thanks for taking charge Heather, I am way too busy to do it alone! :)

Sorry I've been MIA but am looking forward to this years Sheepiefest! WOOHOO!!!!!!

Kate

:wag:
Looks like the 8th is winning so far! Stacy do you know when Chicagoland OES has their 'dog days'? Don't want to overlap but I don't see any dates anywhere online.

I'm waiting for a call back from the Best Friends in Buffalo Grove about their outdoor area, and there is an indoor area (with some outdoor space) in Chicago that I am going to get a price on as well.

Anyone have any ideas of things we want to do? If it's in Chicago I can have the dog food truck come.
October 9th is the best for me. October 8th is Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, so I doubt many Jews will attend, unless I"m the only Jew :dreidel5: . The next weekend, Oct 14th, I will be in upstate New York for my aunt and uncle's 70th wedding anniversary.

I'm so glad this is living on. I'm very proud.

If it's the 9th, I will be there, if not, my heart will be there with all of you :hearts:
COESC's Dog Day Afternoon will be Sunday Oct 23.
Can everyone please get their votes in today? We'll use the date with the most popular votes.

I am going to book it for Best Friends Pet Care in Buffalo Grove. It's free and they have a big play lot and a few park benches. I can bring tables and what not. I'll start a new thread tomorrow after we get all the votes.

If you know someone in the area that might want to come please send them a pm and ask them to join us!
My vote is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really glad you are planning it closer in. Thanks, sweetie!
Well, as Mr. MRSA (aka Oscar) will not be able to attend, I will wait and see when the date falls. I might just come by myself, and get some extra sheepdog lovin'!!!!

Laurie and Oscar, the Cootie King
I don't think we will be able to attend this year. I'm so bummed. We are going to the Dayton Sheepie Gathering in the end of September. Troy will be out of town the first half of October. Hope everyone has a blast.
