Prince Hudson is boycotting the new flooring.

His Royal Highness does not like the new slippery flooring we put in this past weekend. His bedroom and hallway have been ruined. He would not even walk on it the first night, and cried at the foot of the stairs until Daddy "helped him" to the area rug. (Let's just say all four royal paws did not have to do any walking.)

Two nights ago he did walk, sulking, to the bedroom, planted himself on the area rug, grabbed OUR comforter in his mouth, yanked it to the floor, and flopped on top of it. (Nice try Dude, we brought your dog bed up for you, and that was right there. YOU DID NOT NEED OUR BLANKET.) He sighed when we removed him from the blanket and put it back on the bed. He also refused our invitations to join us on the bed, and slept on a sliver of area rug beside the bed. (There's a huge space at the foot of the bed, but that part of the carpet just wouldn't do.)

Yesterday, when it was time to "go bedroom" while I went to work, he dodged around me, beside the stairway and willingly ran into his crate instead.

I stood at the door to his crate, and said, "Seriously? You can have the bedroom all day and you choose the box?" He looked at me and scooted even further back.

"Fine." So I gave him his "go bedroom" cookie and locked his crate.

About six hours later I returned from work and let him out. He flew from his crate, ears down, bum down, stomping in his little prince fashion all the way to the backdoor. And, he peed on the deck just to show me. I guess by then he'd forgotten that he CHOSE the crate.

Today he walked slowly to the bedroom and did go in so he could be contained there while I was gone, however he made his trademark little piggy grunting sounds all the way there.

I've raised/loved five sheepies. I've never known an attitude like this. Grunt away little man. The floor is not going anywhere...and this weekend we finish two more rooms.

Life is hard.

In other news, he got a "bum shave" two nights ago (to open up a "poop chute") which he normally spends three days trying to run away from because of the draft. He's been so upset about the floor that he completely forgot to freak out about his bum. (And he even gave in on the toenail cutting and the paw pad trim...to make sure his traction was top notch on the new floor.) So, we did have a few minor wins this week.

Oh my! Poor Hudson! I was chuckling while reading this picturing his disgust through the entire story!

Poor Hudson. Change is difficult. Hardwood is difficult too!
Hudson obviously didn't get to vote! Seriously Tracie, how dare you upgrade his castle???
Poor Hudson, things are not suppose to change in his world.

I just can't believe how inconsiderate you were to put in all that flooring without his express approval!

So when does the old carpeting come back? :sidestep:

(and congrats on the floor - our place looked a million times better when we finished our installation!)
oh boy he sounds like my old miss daytona.. so i am sure rudy was lol the entire time
Hmmm :lmt: ...If you keep up these renovations Hudson may be forced to move out in protest :cow:

Maybe Rudy could talk him into staying  Teach him about tools and how nice and cool the new floors are? :roses:
:D :D :D Had to laugh--we just installed hardwood floors in our bedroom and our media room and our guys have given us dirty looks--but seemed to have accepted the change! Now if we can just keep the scratches to a minimum--
That sounds exactly like my Dublin with the floors! Ever since she was a puppy, she has had floor issues. She will not go into PetCo or Petsmart or the dog bakery because the floor is too slippery and shiney - so she prefers to lay on the rug at the entrance of the store (which is completely normal). We recently tiled the floor in the laundry room and the bathroom (which she won't go in anyway because of the scary bathtub), and she puts two paws in, head down and runs out. Her daycare has the same floor and had been working on her confidence on the floor, but it's 50/50 whether we are actually successful in getting her to walk on it, or have to carry the princess out of daycare. I think nothing of it, but apparently it is a little odd (hence the stares) to have two people carry an OES out to the car. At this point, we have learned to accept it as one of Dublin's many issues.

Too funny! Scary thing is I can vividly imagine it.

bassets pull that crap all the time......now it's spread to OES as well??? 8O 8O
I have no problem at all imagining two people hoisting an OES up and carrying her to a car.

But, you have to understand, I'm also the one who stands out in the pouring rain with Prince Hudson on a leash (only way to drag him out of the house when it rains) holding an umbrella over HIM so his Royal Highness can stay dry, while I get drenched. Otherwise he'll forever hold his pees....until he explodes on the carpet.

Slightly different concept, but still the same basic premise.

The things we do for our sheepies.
Tracie, I'd love a picture of you standing outside with the umbrella. They are delicate little souls aren't they!!!!!!!!

We tore out the carpeting in our place last winter and put in laminate wood floors, Tripper didn't care but it was click, click click from his nails.

Butchy fell down a few times but finally got his feet under him and it hasn't been a real problem unless he misjudges his speed.

But they get up with that I meant to do that look on their face.
