Harry has a new obedience title
 We were the first dog in the ring. It started out a little rough with some very poor heeling, in fact he hasn't heeled this poorly since we started in Open. Here he is ready for the Figure 8 heeling: Click through for fullsize image:   The Drop on Recall was a little discombobulating. The judge forgot to give me the signal for the drop. I was thinking "What the heck" and Harry had a funny look on his face as he kept coming but he did a nice front. The judge says "My bad" and calls us back to do it again. That was more than my nerves could take but Harry was a pro and did a nice drop on recall. After the last time I was nervous but he did great. In fact, someone told me that a dog in the next ring poked his nose over at Harry who was at the end and Harry didn't break his sit stay.  They called out the numbers for the qualifiers and Harry's number was one of four announced.  There was a tie between two dogs so they did a heel off for placement. Harry was one of those dogs. Despite the photo below, he felt no need to redeem himself after our poor heeling earlier and proceeded to give a repeat performance of his first effort. Show Me's Harrington CDX RAE NA NAJ OF I am really proud of my boy. We got our title in just four attempts. He needed 3 qualifying legs so we only failed once. I didn't realize that the Q rate in Open obedience is not all that high. In fact someone gave me a ridiculous number that I still find hard to believe as the average for attempts to get the title. But I looked at the results for our entries in the ring and the average number of qualifiers for those was only 1/3 of the dogs. |

I was waiting for this post!!!   Congrats on this huge accomplishment You guys did wonderful and how lucky you had a photographer there to capture it!! Is this the usual there? I never have been at a obedience trial that had a photographer (except for the ones in conjunction with a conformation show....and then it's like pulling teeth to get them to the obedience area!) |
