update on cujo on the leash

:yay: Just wanted to thank all those who posted some advice. I have walked him a number of times tonight and it was a success. Hooray!!!!

I combined a couple of methods posted and it seemed to have a nice effect. I stood like a tree amazing after one minute my boy turned and walked nicely on his lead. I also gave him a toy to hold in his mouth on another walk. The third time he was out I could sense his motion to lunge and I quickly turned my back and again stood like a tree and he just gave up and again walked nicely. What a relief I am keeping my fingers crossed that this continues, and I will still be looking into the gentle lead.

Excellent! We had these same issues with Winnie as a pup. The "tree" concept worked pretty well. Just be patient, and keep training. And know that some OES pups need more training than others. Too, they do eventually grow out of it, though Winnie still will - now and then - test us to see if we're still the "top dogs." They can be stubborn, but it sounds like you're on the right track!
