Saving Pets' Scent in case lost

I just got this post from a FB friend, thought I would share...great idea!!!!!!!!!!!

Dog owners! Last week at the PA Bar's Animal Law conference, a great tip. You never know when a pet might get lost. so BEFORE that happens, take a piece of gauze, rub it over your pet's hair/dander, in their ears & mouth, place in a zip lock bag w/ name & date. Should your pet ever go missing, a tracking dog can use this to pick up your dog's scent. Be proactive! You never know what could happen.

That is a great idea :clappurple: :clappurple: and something I never would have thought to do. Did they tell you how often it needs to be repeated?

No and a great question!
I will ask if there is any idea on that!
Thank you
That sounds like a great idea for toddler parents too!

Brilliant!

don't think anyone is sure of lifespan of scent, but should last quite awhile. put in small ziploc inside a larger ziploc in a cool place as extreme heat can deterioate the scent. 8)
It would be smart to maybe do this on a regular basis of say once every six months or so and just toss the previous one.

Wonderful idea, thanks for passing it along. We can refresh the scent when we replace the smoke alarm batteries or with the seasonal time changes :rimshot:
Hoping that none of us ever need it.
ok,
need to change that previous post. vance is right about 6 mths being a good time length for change. an air tight jar is much better though and wear latex gloves to swab and put in the jar to resolve any cross contamination.

Great ideas yes! Marty and I were just talking about the containers!
Did not think of the gloves though!
I had thought of a glass container too....and gloves are my life! 8)
