do the matts. ever stop?

Billy is around 4-5 years old now. But his started matting worse than ever.
The daily quick brush has gone out of the window slightly as i am so busy grooming everyone elses dog but even so its never more than 3 days. Billy is a tart and demands grooming, paws on the table and barks till he gets his brush. But when you have just done 10 hours its turning into a cuddle n treat.
But the matts are worse than ever. Even on his back where his never had them.
his coat is about 4-5" long. Wet dogs and caravans dont go well together so he gets a puppy cut in may.
Why are the matts getting so aggressive? I thought after 4 it got easier! Next day after a good brush, there they are! Think his having an affair with the matt fairies!!
Does groomin ever get easier????????

Sybil was like this last year - out of the blue. And she was 4. I thought it was connected to the heat and humidity. And maybe it was. This year she's been a piece of cake. Go figure! :lmt:

Chewie's doing it right now...at age 5.

He is a late bloomer though!! :plead:

He was an easy once a week line groom and a few touch ups before classes during the week....

Now he's matting every couple days!
Must be something in the air!
I cant blame the humitity i live in the uk!!!
Makes me feel better am not the only one
Billy has never really had matts, always been an easy groom. This must be revenge for all them years!
He had a good brush today, yet i know tomorrow his gonna have matts
Glad to hear this from others as well.Forrest still gets mats and he is almost 6.
Maybe it has to do with coat type?

Have you changed any grooming products. Admittedly Tiggy was still under 3 and changing coat but a year ago I had a terrible patch of heaps of matts on the outside of her hip where she lay on it and had never had issues there before. I'd started using more powder when I groomed her skirts and it was mixing in with coat oils.

I can't remember what made me suspect it but I bathed her all over and stopped using powder and haven't had the problem since. Could be that a new product isn't right for Billy's coat.
His had the same products for a while now, white on white, k9 competition and cowboy magic detangler and shine the only thing that changes is his perfume, currently pucci (smells like gucci mmmm)
I can understand normal matts omg if they were to stop life would be a dream!
Its the massive amount in 2-3 days. His gone through his coat transitions like a dteam. Just when i think its going to get better i think am getting the last 4 years at once
Oh well it was worth checking. Hope things settle soon.
My thoughts are with you! :D Hope it's just a phase that goes quickly away.
Tedi is now going through his coat transition and if I don't brush him every day he is all matted... And I've been telling myself that it's not like this always  I sure hope he will ge a rough coat and I don't have to spend at least 1 hour/day for brushing him for the rest of his life.. (so that I can get another one and another transition haha)
Lol i am ment to be entering a grooming competition with him in a few weeks so each matt has to be teased out. I am hand scissoring billy and i must be glutten for punishment.. i have to groom two dogs the other is a 13 month oes going through a coat transition, shes getting, clipped in a puppy cut.
Keeping both these dogs in good condition is driving me nuts! Maybe i should change my user name to matt queen!!
