I finally found a place to let Frankie try sheep herding

Off and on I have tried different places to see if we could go and try herding. Most either don't email back, or Don't with with Old English Sheep Dogs. I finally found one about and hour maybe a little more away. She's filled this month but said in a month we could try. I'm figure I want to wait until it cools down. Frankie isn't really big on this heat. So come September we are going to try it. For now he has started his Treiball class which is ball herding. So he should get some ideas of commands by then.
I'm so excited.

That sounds great :D :D

Does treiball use real herding commands?
Excellent!!! September will be a nice time, hopefully. Something to look forward to doing. So glad his troubles are behind and he's begun to enjoy himself again. :clappurple:
I'm not really sure about that. We are learning hand signals to send them out and go around and circle the balls. And the push command to push the balls . Not sure if you need that or not in real herding.

One thing I really love about our herding trainer, despite being a Border Collie breeder, she loves Mady and loves working with her. Glad you found someone, herding is the absolute happiest thing we do with Mady, nothing else comes close! :high5:
Funny story about the guy who offered to let me and Zoey come over to play with his sheep. We talked about him coming over to my house one night this week to help me work on my car. He called me just before he was to be there and left a voice mail saying that he needed to be home before dark as there were holes in a fence and his sheep were escaping into a field they weren't supposed to be in. I called him back and left him a voice mail telling him that if he was worried about not getting home in time to find his sheep, to not come out. I would be WAY too tempted to call him Little Bo Peep if he did in fact, loose any of his sheep.

The next day, we had a great laugh about that as he played the voice mails to his wife and she was calling him Little Bo or Peep all night and into the morning as well.

We're still planning on going out, just waiting for it to cool off, now that it's dried out.

Happy to hear you finally found a place to take Frankie to herd his sheep.
Looking forward to hearing more about this adventure.

Awesome!! I am jealous!! I've been looking over the past few days for places, but there seems to be nothing around Arkansas that offers herding training. I REALLY want to try this out with Winston ... eh maybe someday we will find a place! Grats on that! :D
