younger one harassing older one

I have a 12 week old OES puppy who is constantly pestering my older dog. The older dog is only 3 so it's not such a big difference. They play extremely well together outside but inside they can't seem to be in the same room. The little one is constantly nipping at the older one and she now just hangs out in a separate room. I feel badly since she doesn't get to come hang out with us when we are watching TV or just doing nothing. Any advice? I thought the older one would "put her in her place" but that doesn't seem to happen.

I have never done this, but I think it may be helpful for you:
You can put a leash on the puppy, keep it short around your leg/ankle while you're watching TV. That way, the puppy can be part of your pack, learn that she can't just jump on furniture with you and need to lie by your side, but there is enough distance between the puppy and the older dog so that they learn to be calmly in the same room without physically interacting.
Dogs/cats give pupies/kittens a lot of leeway at first. My vet just has us let them interact. At some point, the older dogs/cats will draw the line on what they will accept from the puppies/kittens.

It has worked well with each of our dogs and cats. Our 10 year old (Bailey) has a smaller tolerance for misbehaving. Riley, at 6 yours old, is a great playmate for Banker (10 month old Golden). He has learned to leave Bailey alone (she jumped him when one of his toys hit her, he won't go near her for even his favorite toy).

Banker is crated when we aren't home, but the others are loose in the house. So they get some time away from him.

Give it some time. Eventually even the most laid-back, older dog will put the youngster in place. Best to let them work it out themselves. I have a girl who will put up with "anything". I've never seen a dog as patient as she is. Has been this way her entire life. When I have other dogs here for grooming or to stay over for shows etc. she puts up with a lot but if one of them gets too pesty she will let them know, nicely but still let them know. Generally happens with dogs that are only dogs. They are SO tickled to be with others of their own kind that they can't contain themselves!
