Hot in Syracuse this week

Gonna be hot in CNY this week.
All except 2 days will be in the 90s (those 2 days will be 88 & 89).
It was 91 yesterday and 93 today.

Brick wanted to go out at around 1 PM today but I didn't want him out there unsupervised in the heat, so I brought him out front on the leash. He was happy hanging out in the sun (I wasn't). I'd try to get him in and he'd just flop onto his back with his legs splayed lookin' like he was suntanning. I had to trick him and tell him we would go for a walk. Once I got him on his feet, I picked up his front legs and marched him back inside.

Same here in Michigan. It was 89 at 11:00 today. I hate the heat and humidity. Frankie and Mattie won't even go outside in this weather. Mattie has to be lured out.
I'm thinking the dog walker shouldn't walk them this week. Just let them out in the yard to potty.

Stay cool.

My car thermometer said 106 as I drove home from O'Hare afte a trip at 1:30pm!! Hotter than Texas! Gotta love Chicago...extreme hot and extreme cold.
Janet, you can love Chicago, I hate it! Actually, there is no place that is decent year-round. I think I have to live one place during the winter, somewhere else in the summer. I wouldn't care about the temperature except for Bob the Wonder Pony. I wish I could air-condition his stall.
95 here, and it's 8:30pm. Ugh :x But the super humidity is worse than the heat. I've done dry heat (panhandle of Texas in July) and I loved it. This is just disgusting.

It was already in the 80's when I got up at 5:30 this morning to go to work. Glad today was my workday and I had yesterday to be out in the heat and humidity at our weight pull -only 90 yesterday!

Those to the east - coming your way. It's been here 3 days already.....
It was 104 here today, it's been hot every day for so long now.... it sucks. Even now at 9:30pm it's 95 :(
Paula, I agree about Chicago...I was being sarcastic  I've been all over the world and I believe Hawaii is close to being the most perfect place in the world. 80s all year around with very little humidity.
You can't really trust the car thermometer once you're on concrete or asphalt - it gives false highs. Mine has shown 112-118 at various times in the last two weeks.
Our daily highs have 105ish. At nine tonight, it was still 100.

Couldn't agree more. Why do you think they call it paradise?

I was watching the news on TV tonight and heard a wonderful (NOT  ) bit of weather trivia.

The dew point (humidity measure) in Minnesota was ONLY matched by conditions in the Amazon jungle today!! :cow: :cow:

Not the norm for us (or apparently anywhere else to this extreme) for sure!!

And tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter......great, just great.
I guess I will be cancelling Chewie's agility lesson (outdoors at 1pm) again tomorrow :( :(
Yes, in my corner of MN, the only difference between being outside and being inside a sauna is that a sauna would be cooler and probably less humid. At one point, it sort of rained, but really, it was more like there was just so much moisture in the air, some of it had to fall to the ground so that the air could take up more moisture. Lasted 5 or 6 seconds....

We're having a cook out tomorrow......
So sorry for all those extremes, those are dangerous temperatures! More water sports this week :clappurple: Double sunscreen :clappurple:
This is why we live up 3600 ft in Waynesville NC mts...high yesterday was 72...Asheville will be 90s this week and we may see 80 for highs. We really love the serenity, beauty and cool temps...however winter is really cold up here. We live in Toccoa GA Nov to Apr as it's near daughter and granddaughters. Dogs love the mts. But also love being near babies..good part is they visit a lot in summer to escape the heat.
Sadly, no mountains in Minnesota!! :|

Today is going to be worse - the heat index is to 124 degrees - the highest number in the country

And not supposed to drop out of the 90's for a week.....hot for MN, but I really do wish the humidity would leave. It really can move east...soon!
Terrible here too, plan on going to Marinette which is right by Lake Michigan so might be a few degrees cooler, I hope.

Can't believe a place that can get so cold in the winter can be so miserable in the summer. Had some storms in the area last night that did some damage but we were ok, more to come today.

Yeah, my son went with a friend to a water park in WI yesterday: they came home after about 3 hrs because it was too hot, even in water. They got there shortly after opening, too. Now, in MN, we're not used to heat/humidity and he does tend to melt in these conditions.

I have been running ac AND fans (windows closed) since yesterday. Sophie was at the back steps, looking to go outside and I knew she didn't want to just lounge there but perhaps needed potty, so I opened the door and she looked at me like I was crazy. I knew she was feeling the cool air from the (mostly unfinished) basement, so I went down there and got her and Sherman to follow, but they didn't want to stay, even for the cool. She found a nice register to lay in front of for the cool air.
Oh baby its hot outside....even for me. The dogs look at me so sad. They want to go outside and play. When I go outside to do anything they want to come with, and I let them, only for a few minutes. Both come outside and the usual is Gar trying to grab Simon to drag him around by the collar and barking his fool head off. Today when I told him no bite...he listened 8O and he didn't bark 8O 8O .

Dh is canceled tonite for agility, no surprise there.

Kristine...Does Sue ever cancel because of heat?

Not so I can remember, no. If there's a heat advisory she may take that into account, but otherwise I expect most likely there will be class. 8O

If this keeps up and she doesn't cancel I'll be playing it by ear, and I've never bailed for heat either.

I have obedience in the same building with a different instructor and I bailed yesterday. It wasn't the heat so much as the humidity - God it was AWFUL.

Today there's enough wind that it's bearable. If you're not expending a lot of energy ;-)

104 again here today, it's awful :(
It rained for a few mins around 4am (I was still awake because I can't sleep in this heat even with all the ac units on) but it didn't cool it off at all, all it did was put the humidity up to 80% :(

The dogs are all laying around in front of ac units (there are 4 in the house so one for each dog to hog LOL) and they don't want to go out. I barely have to open the door, they get two feet on the grass and pee before they're a foot away from the door and then right back in. Ice cube hockey in the kitchen is a big hit though.
I feel so sorry for those poor dogs and cats in shelters. Orphans of the Storm by me do not have ac in the kennels. Fans are not good enough in this heat and humidity. Poor puppies and kitties in their fur coats. :(

Driving home the other day after my trip I wanted to tear my polyester blend flight attendant uniform and pantyhose off. Even with the air on full blast, I was melting. So I am worried about those shelter animals!

My private agility lesson got cancelled today - in fact Bonnie cancelled all classes all this week. (although I had called in the am and told her we were not coming - Chewie just doesn't do heat)
Right now I'm looking at my thermometer saying 101.7 degrees, and super high humidity. I haven't looked at heat index, but it's supposed to be 124-126 - and that was when they were saying temps in the upper 90's. :( :(

My regular group agility class on Tuesdays aren't held the 3rd Tuesday each month d/t the kennel club meeting being the same night - so we lucked out that tomorrow is meeting night anyway.

And I am SO happy my obedience classes are at the PAW in air conditioned comfort!! :clappurple:
I will be heading in soon and will go happily to a cooler temp than here at home. My AC can't keep up (2 windows, old farmhouse) and we are slipping up to 81 now. BUT it's still heaven compared to outside!

All the farm animals, wildlife are all out in the heat.
Heck, I never even had AC until 5 years ago - how quickly we become spoiled!!! :?
Just plain oppressive:

How true. We just got central air about 1/2 way thru summer last year. We have hot water heat so no blower on our "furnace" which is a boiler. It sure is nice. for several years before that we had a big window unit that cooled the 3 bedrooms. Of course the dogs got the 1st a/c unit years ago....for the kennel!
Drove past a farm today; they had a small pond dug and the cows were standing in that.
There is nothing like a FAN blowing HOT HOT HOT HOT air around..............NOT a bit cooling !!! :plead:
Just Go Ahead and Sweat........
We hit 100 degrees F today.
Heat index was around 112 degrees.

We've only hit 100 or better 8 other times since weather records have been kept for Syracuse.

And you forgot to mention the watermain break - no water for some and limited for the rest of us. (I'm with my mother this week).
Crazy!!!!
Actually, we hit 101 on Thursday.
Tied for the 2nd hottest temp of all time since records were taken in Syracuse.
Only ONE other day was hotter and that temp was 102 (in the '30s I think).
