Adding a new puppy....advice?

I am the owner of a nearly 2 year old sheep dog named Winston. . He's crazy, playful, snuggly, and a very well loved member of our family. We have recently decided to add another Sheepie to our family. We will be picking up Winston's half sister from the same breeder the end of next week.

We are excited, but at the same time I am a little concerned. I want to make sure the new addition doesn't change the Winston we know and love in any way. He is well crate trained, and we will be doing the same with the new puppy. I am hoping they will grow up the best of friends, but I would really like to hear from others who added a second sheep dog to their family, and would love to know any advice that I can be given about making the transition go smoothly for both dogs.

Any help is appreciated!

thanks!

Whenever bringing home new dogs I've had the best luck with the initial greeting away from home. One person walks the older dog and (hopefully) the second upright in the house is out walking the newbie and they "just happen to meet." Little or no talking, let the older dog do the sniffing for a bit and then all four continue walking until you just happend to get home. If the older makes any commotion about the newbie, a quick "shhhhh" or whatever disapproving noise you make. No talking! They don't understand, save your breath and don't confuse them with more noise. Feed them apart for awhile...but I always kept them within eye sight of one another. If you feed in crates, then great, this isn't an issue. Keep the newbie in a crate a night but the older one (if uncrated) can come and go perhaps helping the newbie feel welcome.

Since newbie isn't house trained yet, proceed as you would normally. Hopefully older dog will help reinforce, "Hey kid, we do our business outside."

Good chance you'll have some wild games in your home soon. Put away the good stuff, furniture will be flying.
it should be fun watching them play you will find the puppy might get on your older dog nerves but with my 2 they are 2 yrs apart and it went smooth good luck and give up pics please

now they are best buds

Yeah, I'm hoping that they will become best friends. Winston lost most of last summer to socialize after he was hit by a car while staying at my mom's house while we were on vacation. Thankfully he survived, but his back right leg was smashed. An incredible surgeon put his leg back together again and he has a steel plate in his upper leg. You would never know he does. Especially when he jumps about 5 feet high with al 4 legs in the air while the kids play on our trampoline!

Because of his down time, we weren't able to take him out much or let him play with other dogs. The limited experience he has had with other dogs he seems to have a big desire to get them to play. He wore out the white lab that lives next to us the other week chasing him around their yard!
OK. I'm a week and a half into the new puppy experiment! The new puppy, Daphne, is as wild and crazy as a puppy should be. Winston has adjusted pretty well. He's backed her away from his food, and his soda bottle he likes to chew on, but he's been pretty tolerant. Over the last few days they have started wrestling. Daphne likes to grab Winston's ears and cheeks and latch on. He has again been pretty tolerant of her and her puppiness. He uses his size advantage to constantly take her over, but he hasn't gotten nasty....although with her latching on to him I think he's going to need to do it soon! Daphne starts to get VERY crazed after she keeps getting taken down a number of times. She likes to run and lunge at her big brother!

Anyway, things are going pretty well so far, I hope for continued improvement as time passes. I just need to get Daphne crate trained as well as Winston. She likes to yelp bark and cry if crated. Winston has us spoiled as he'll go right in when it's bed time.
we need to see puppy pics please
