3 yo female Blanchard, OK

I have been in contact with this owner who placed a craigslist ad to rehome her 3 year old female. Owner said she doesn't know how much she weighs, but has no known health issues.:

I have a 3 year old,Old English Sheep dog with papers that needs a good home. My son and I are both allergic to her therefore she has been spending a lot more time out side and she is not living the life that we think she deserves. She is Great with kids and is a very sweet dog. She is house trained and because of her breed she really needs to be an indoor dog mostly. We really do NOT want to find a new home for her because she is such a good dog but I know it is what is best for her. For pictures or more info please feel free to text me 405-410-9398 We will not charge anyone who wants her we just want to make sure she is in a good home.
Thanks.

This is Britney:

I am at maximum dog density! I'm happy to pick up and help transport though!

Thank you for helping out a sweet sheepie in need!! :high5:
Thanks, Kathy.

More info: Britney is spayed, not UTD on shots/heartworm, is great with kids (according to owner, not verified yet), house trained, think she is a puppy, listens well and does not run off if outside a fence. They live on 3 acres and she doesn't run off.

I may try to go for a visit this evening and check her out.
I have 3 really nice homes waiting for a sheepie but maryland is a stretch :(

NC isn't far from MD
She's a cutie.
I hope she finds a good home very soon.
If I wasnt at my limit I would be making a road trip to Oklahoma. Hope they are able to find her a great home. :crossed:
Ahhhh I've been waiting to adopt a female sheepie!

I'm still waiting to hear from TXOESR about one girl that was transferred from Mexico.
I PMed you!!!!
Update today is the owner does not want to work through "rescue" and said if I knew people who wanted Britney to have them contact her directly. :| I'm not "rescue", I am just me offering to help. So I won't be able to help by checking her for temperament or health, etc. If you'd like to talk to the owner, her phone number is in the original post.

I hope she's legit and not actually trying to sell Britney.
---UPDATE!!!---

I just talked to Britney's owner over the phone and she really seems legit. She doesn't like the idea of rescue organizations because she wants to find a permanent home for this 3 years old girl, as it will be her 3rd home. I think (and this is my thought) she sees rescue as another temporary holding place rather than a permanent home.

---Britney's history---

Britney comes from a friend of the family. She was bought as a puppy to join a family of 2 male OES, 2yr old and a 5 year old. but the 2 older male dogs were "so mean to her" and she was just not shining a she should be. Everyone agreed that Britney would be happier with the current parents.

Britney joined her new family of 1 weimaraner and 2 yr old boy, at the age of 2. Despite never having had previous allergic reactions, and her hair being soft "human like" hair rather than shedding fur, the entire family started having allergic reactions. So they had to keep Britney outside alot. Unfortunately, the weimaraner was also very aggressive towards Britney and it became a problem when they were kept outside together.

Britney is around 70lbs, full of energy, always ready to play like a puppy, and really really gentle with the son. She stays calm on the floor while the baby plays with her and lets him sleep on her too. She also like running around the house playing tag with the boy. She loves playing in the snow, and has a lot of fun meeting other dogs and cats too.

Another reason I think the owners are not some BYB is she was really honest about how they didn't really take her to the vet recently, and just gave her a flea/tick bath because she's been outside. She was also honest about not having the dog on heartworm prevention. I suggested she get a vet certification stating that the dog doesn't have heartworm and is free of diseases before sending her off and getting into some unnecessary health claims. She said that was asked by a couple of other people too, so she was going to talk to her husband, and get the dog checked out by a vet/petsmart sometime this week/next week to make sure of all that. She also kept emphasizing to me that despite the size, sheepies are an indoor dog who likes to be with their owner. :clappurple: She prefers to give the dog to a family nearby in OK, but if she doesn't think there aren't any good people, she was willing to ship the dog to Cincinnati. When I suggested that I can pay for the flight if she can provide the crate, she said that seemed good and fair.

So I personally think she's genuine, and thanks to Raquel's diligence, I'm glad I got to talk to her. she didn't ask for any money, and will be sending me more picture.

--- Do you think I can work as a volunteer interviewer for sheepie rescue? --- :hearts:
I would love to have this girl if someone would help me transport. I have been looking for another OES and have found a few but then run onto dead ends.

where are you located?
I live in Middletown, OH. 45042.
Guess I'm not far from you. I see you are in Cincinnati.
Could you pass this along to the current owner if they aren't going to go through rescue?
It might help them to rehome her-
http://untilyoufindme.com/Rehoming-Your ... eepdog.htm

Remind them to keep in touch with the current owners to ensure the dog and family are
doing well and have them get a signed contract indicating they must be contacted if
for any reason the dog is not working out... that the dog cannot be rehomed without
approval. Not all rehomes work out and dogs rehomed across the country can make
things difficult unless the owner has contacts nearby to quickly reclaim the dog. I
understand the owner's feelings about wanting to do this themselves but it's just one
of the good things about a good OES rescue... if things don't work out, they will be there
to help.

Hoping she'll find a wonderful home.
Thanks Jaci. I'll pass it along to the owner.
Susan, you should talk to the owner directly and see what she says.

You are WELCOME anytime to make phone calls for us :cheer: :cheer:
:yay: Aww thanks guys~
What I would eventually want to do is Foster for local rescue groups, and help train dogs for their permanent homes. But as I'm still looking for my own sheepie, and still renting... All I can do is help out in other ways. We'll get there eventually. I applied to volunteer for Midwest OES rescue. They are amazing people~ They helped my BF Nick fall in love with sheepies.

If anyone needs me to call and interview sheepie owners or potential adopters, or with anything in the cincinnati area, I'd love to help out in any way.
I inquired about OES girl in OK and received this message from owner-- "Thank u for ur interest but we just gave her to a great family today."
My friend Margo picked her up today. She's in terrible shape and Margo said even if she didn't intend to keep her, she couldn't let her go back with that family. She was definitely misrepresented. Margo will get her vet checked this week. Now we are just praying she is heartworm negative.

I rehomed Leo with Margo 4 or 5 years ago - she and her husband are fabulous sheepie parents. They went straight to the dog wash and then to Petsmart for new collar/tags, etc. She is in good hands now.
So sad! Well, at least I'm glad she found a good home.

I'm so glad you were able to help. I really hope she's heartworm negative too. I heard she's never been on HW prevention.
Please update us on the cutie girl's progress!
