Lhasa Apso X Cocker Spaniel??
WHATever it is .....it's adorable!!!!!! :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
miniature OES???
I agree he is completely adorable and what a smile! :wag:

They're stretching it with a claim of min-OES though. Maybe a lhasa/border collie?...but really, he could have genes from all over the Pacific NW running through that little guy.

Good guess. At first glance tibetan terrier almost crossed my mind. Certainly before I would have thought OES. Ultimately some kind of mix and very adorable. If was listed as having more energy and I needed another dog, which I don't  , I'd be seriously tempted.

Now who is going to contact the rescue and explain no one is breeding miniature OES, it's unlikely there's even any OES in the dog they're listing as a purebred, which it is not, and they shouldn't make up "facts"?

There's nothing wrong with owning a mix, and especially one as cute as that one. Next thing you know someone adopts the dog, believes the story and can't understand why their "sheepdog" doesn't know sheep from cornstalks, and instead is very birdie, when it isn't busy killing rats? Or some such thing ;-)

I'm sure they think they're doing a good thing, trying to market him as a purebred. But look at that face. You think he can't market himself? :hearts:

Kristine
Looks alot like a tibetan terrier except for tail...tail is long and curls up over back.
tibetan terrier was the first thing that came to my mind too.
Adorable but no sheepie in it.
I don't know what he is but I sure could love him. He looks kind of like an oes and that's all I'd need.
Thanks for everyone's input.
I'll make contact. Just wanted to be certain others weren't seeing OES in him.
Definitely a little moppet boy... someone's going to be getting a cutie-pie. :hearts:
A longshot since they're fairly rare but maybe some Polish Lowland Sheepdog in there? Would account for the stubby tail if nothing else.
Maybe Havanese mix?...sometimes they are very sheepie-markinged (ok...I know that isnt really a word   )

Whatever he is...I kind want him :hearts:
in the picture where hes laying down he looks like a stuffed sheepie. :hearts: way to cute. should have no problem finding a home. :hearts:

If he is 1 and can be "lazy" that really says he is not a sheepie. Have you ever seen a lazy 1 year old sheepie? :? :twitch:
 Oh my goodness, he is to die for!!!! Thank heavens I do not live closer :phew:.
I thought TT at first too but, whatever he is adorable :hearts: :hearts:
I think havanese or TT but no oes LOL
How adorable is he??!!! Im definately guessing havanese...i looked at getting one from a havanese breeder in Melbourne, that looked EXACTLY like a mini OES....but i needed the real deal...not a substitute!! LOL But still he is gorgeous!
I'd say tibetan terrier or polish lowland too.... wonder why it's tail was docked though? Odd to see in a mix.
There must be someone out there breeding mini OES. I was coming out of the U of PA vet school (small animal practice) with my GSD,a woman was walking in with a dog that looked just like this one. I had no clue as to the breed. SO I asked her. What breed of dog is that?? She replied a mini old english sheepdog. My mouth must have fell open as I said what?? I have OES and I have never heard of such a thing??? She said it is an OES but will never get any bigger!! and proceeded thru the door I was so dumbfounded I just kept walking I should have asked her where she got him
There's a person in IL breeding australian shepherd x poodle mixes who notes that some of her mixes end up looking like miniature OES (depending on coloring) Not intentional, just what can happen depending on how things turn out. She docks. Why someone would decide to call it a mini OES is anybody's guess.

Kristine
why is she doing that kind of breeding??? just money or am I missing what kind of dog someone is hoping to get with that corss. :lmt:
I agree that this dog is ridiculously cute! However, the
fact that a few people here are aware of someone, maybe
even several someones producing mutts on purpose and calling
then mini oes, is extremely alarming to me. (not that some people
here are aware of it- that it's widely enough known that people
from this forum know about it  )

Am I alone in this alarm? Just wondering. I actually thought it was
a joke till I went and clicked on the link.

Shellie
Well, the person I referenced who's breeding the mixes calls them aussiepoos (sp?) She just used mini OES as a description of what some of them end up looking like, not as the name of what she's breeding. And, no, I've never met her, the information I have is from her website.

It's the shelter referenced here that made the mini OES claim, plus some for all we know equally ignorant pet owner Cindy met in passing in PA, who could in turn have gotten that dog from a shelter as many aren't shy about making things up, based on how well the descriptions of dogs often don't fit their pictures ;-)

If it's shaggy and gray and white (ish) it must be an OES even if it only weighs 15 lbs. It just sounds better to try to fit a dog into a purebred category. They're usually easier to place, and some shelters charge more for them. Since (true) purebred dogs are, relatively speaking, fewer and far between, you have to be a little creative in the marketing department, eh? ;-)

I've never come across a breeder marketing mini OES, god forbid. 8O :twitch:

Kristine
Could we call it a shrunken Old English Lap Dog ???
Or maybe just a wanna be lap dog........thats right all OES want to be lap dogs......
Either way or what ever you call it, it's cute. :yay: :lmt:

Kristine

Just Kidding.  He is a bichon frise x shih tzu.
He's a cutie, Jenn :D
Now if we put these two together, what would we have ??????

BICHONFRISESHIHTZUOES..................................NOT ! :cow:

.....................bet it would be cute.............you want that with a tail or without ?
