My OES died this weekend.

My one and a half year old OES snoopy had to be put down this weekend, he had kidney disease. He was my two sons best friend. He was a gentle soul, I miss him so much. Trying to talk my wife into adopting a rescue OES.

sorry for the loss of your baby. :ghug:
so sorry for your loss
thanks, I am just soo sick about this...
I am so sorry about the loss of your baby...I hate to see any OES go to the bridge, but especially when they are this young.

Take time to grieve and heal. Slowly, but surely when you think of Snoopy happy feelings will flood your heart. :ghug:
That is heart breaking. Snoopy was way too young. :( So sorry to hear of your loss.

Take your time to grieve and thank you for thinking of rescue for a new member of your family.
So very sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Snoopy- :ghug: :ghug:
So sorry to hear about Snoopy.
So sorry...know the feeling...my girls were 6th and 7th grade when Callie died suddenly..they wouldn't eat and cried alot...my husband found a new litter that was 1 hour away and surprised them...she became such a great OES and while I thought it was too soon, it really helped my daughters as they really took training her seriously and put alot of their free time into it. Rescue has lots this day...
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet sheepie pup. :ghug:

Tears,
Jen, Zoey and I are sooooo sorry for your family and especially your boys. They can get very attached in a short time.. we recently lost one of our one, so we feel your pain, still. Be strong and you'll make through. Rescuing an OES is a noble and wise decision. Rescued dogs know they're getting a second chance for life and pay you back for it everyday.

Your family will be in our thoughts.
Vance
Very sorry to hear about Snoopy.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers...

When the time is right for you, you will bring another
OES into your heart and home....

Take the time you need to grieve first...
I am so sorry about the loss of your sheepie. :ghug:
I'm so sorry for your loss.

Cindy
where would I look for a younger rescue dog?
so sorry for your lost :ghug:
There are many oes rescues nationwide, many represented here on this site. Look at some of the signatures and you'll see some.

Where are you located? Once this is established, others may be able to help more. So let's start there...

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. :ghug:
I'm sorry about Snoopy. It's so sad when we lose one of our own. I hope your heart stops hurting soon.
I'm sorry. That is far too young. I hope once the trauma goes away you will get another sheepdog and join us with stories.
I am near akron ohio, looking for younger OES as we have two young boys 7 and 9. I would travel to pick one up.
I'm no expert, but here's what I'd do.

I'd start by contacting the folks Midwest OES Rescue as they should be able to help you out to some degree. Even if with just some great advice. http://www.midwestoesrescue.com/

I'd look through petfinders.com and see what may be in your area. We actually found both our OES on there and they were only 8 miles apart! Here's a link to a quick search using your location - Link to Petfinder

I'm sure others will chime in, so take that advice too. My guess is, you'll soon have a book of advice and tips.

I hope it works out..like I said make sure he is okay with the kids :clappurple:
Snoopy will never be replaced but Fonzo may fill a little hole!
They open at 10 am get there early :cheer:
YAY! I saw him on petfinder this morning all cleaned up! Paws crossed it works out!

He or no other dog will replace Snoopy.... but, I am sure a pup will help fill that big hole and void you have in your :hearts:
Good luck with Fonzo!!

We'd be concerned if you DIDN'T have a special place for Snoopy.

Keep us posted and give your wife a big sloppy kiss for all of us; she's a keeper!

Vance
Any news on Fonzo? :crossed: :crossed:
Yes, I did adopt fonzo, we now call him freddie bones, He was in really bad shape and appears to have been severely abused, I took him to the vet yesterday got ear and eye antibiotics due to infections, got a general antibiotic for cuts, its going to take a lot of love and nuturing, he is ok around my wife but very afraid of me, I think a male must have abused him. He is a gentle guy though and will let you touch him and give him meds. He has non stopped paced since coming home. I am going to get him nuetured, I will keep you updated. He has been good with kids.
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Thank you so much!!!
I am glad to hear he is in safe hands now!
Thank you for adopting this scared little boy!
I am sure he will blossom soon!
Thank you for your direction.....I hope he is ok.

If I can help let me know.
How wonderful that he is in a loving home. Looking forward to updates on his progress. :cheer: :cheer:
If you and your newly expanded family are up for a road trip, I'm in the Dayton, OH area and I'm slowly planning a fall OES gathering. PM and we'll talk. The time frame that I'm looking at should give you time to get Freddie Bones settled in and more comfortable.

Vance
Well, most of my family is still in Ohio(I am from there) sooooooo.....
we may wanna take a road trip too!!!
I say that but, I never venture far!
I think we are coming during corn season 8)
That is when my Mom wants me to go with her and load up on fresh Ohio corn!
She swears there is nothing better!
I am so sorry for your loss.
:| I am so sorry for your loss.
So very sorry to hear of your loss. Such a young pup! So hard to lose them anytime but a special loss when so young.
Just reading this post now...So sorry for the loss of your baby. Not yet two years old? My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family... :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. Snoopy was taken from you and your family way too soon. It's not fair. We've had two OES named Snoopy in our lives, neither of which was named by us. Our second OES was rescued from a bad situation and was named Snoopy. We also rescued a stray OES named Snoopy running the streets and found her home and got her back where she belonged. Snoopy is a good name for an Old English Sheepdog. Perhaps there is another OES in your future.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Do consider rescue, they will be helped and so will you ... A furever friend :-) God Bless
Oh goodness :( I am so very sorry for your loss.
Reading this thread it is 12 months since Snoopy wandered across the Bridge. Hopefully his family are just remembering the happy times, even though they didnt have Snoopy for very long.
