Pink around the eyes, sun sensitive?

I have a question, and I hope somebody can help me with this

Tilly is very sensitive on her eyes, she don’t have almost any pigmentation around them most of the edge of her eyes is pink.

Last Sunday, when we were at the boat house she was fine when we get there but after been on the boat and with the reflection of the sun in the water and the bright light I think her eyes were hurt some way.

After we get of the boat we stay in the shade but when people try to approach her from the sunny side she start barking and acting as she was frighten, then when we went to eat lunch she star barking to, an am ashamed to say it, to the African American people, she become really nasty to them, I tough that was because was the first time she saw a African American person.

Yesterday I was in the diner room and I was directly under the light she turn around a see me and start barking at me and she finally run away and hide.

I start thinking and make connections, could be that the bright light of the sun hurt her eyes in someway? She seems a little bit better today.

I was thinking in get her a dog sun glasses for the times that we go out and when she is out in the sun playing, do you think this will solve the problem?

I am worry about her because she is not aggressive, she don’t have a mean bone in her body and love for people to pet her, but if she can not see them correctly she bark and try to bite.

Do I have to take her to the vet so she can check her eyes? I hope that the bright light did not cause a permanent damage to her eyes.

Help me please to figurate this out

Our pink pups (Oscar is one as well) are certainly more prone to sunburn on areas that are more exposed, but I don't think that makes their eyes any more sensitive to sun. (I think eye color plays more of a role, and light blue or green eyes tend to be more sensitive than brown. Oscar is brown-eyed.)

Based upon Tilly's recent issues, I would get her into the vet as soon as possible, and perhaps to an opthalmalogist and have her eyes thoroughly checked out. I would be especially concerned about the sun reflection off the water, and the possibility of damage, but a vet could assess that for you.

I hope Tilly is doing better soon.

I'd say take her in.
A regular vet may not be able to do too much, but if there is an ophthalmologist doing a CERF test nearby you that would be great. They are eye experts and usually the cost is quite reasonable.

One of my OES friends had her female checked at one and found out a lot of info that she never could have gotten from her regular vet. She had been suspecting an issue and had it confirmed, but also got real excellent diagnostics and info.
I second, third, whatever everyone's suggestion to get to the vet and ask the vet for name of a good dog eye doctor. Your pup might have gotten sunburned eyes, common around water and snow and the high sun reflextion. Cure is time, drops and staying in dark areas. However it could be more serious and might explain shy she is aggressive when objects come from the side. Knowing is best.

After years of being outside, high altitude I have the skin to prove it and also growths upon my eyes due to sun damage. If it is just sun damage, doggles with UV filters would be a good idea.
Awww--poor Tilly! I agree--have her checked out! Spent the morning at the vet with Baxter because he was so snarky this past weekend. Hope Tilly is OK!
Wondering if it's a perception thing... maybe something frightened her on Sunday and
she's now got a new fear she just needs to work through. You know when the light is
behind someone, all you might see is a big featureless blob. Maybe try to coax her to
understand that this isn't anything to be fearful of. Ok, maybe too simplistic. :|

Hoping her eyes are ok :hearts:
Thank you for all the advice, Tilly has an appoinment with the regular Vet on Sat morning , she seems much better today so I hope it was not a permanent problem.

I did order her sun glasses today also 8)
:D :D :D
