Top knot question.

Heya again I have a (probably daft) question my Tillie has long coat and the hair on top is growing lovely but there is some at the top of her nose almost above her eyes that seems not to grow any more and wont go in the top know is this going to go am I being impatient or does it just stay that length. Also any tips on making her sit up while I groom her face and not face plant on the floor so I cant get to it would be great lol.

Bribes!

Little bit of kibble or other 'to die for(TDF)' treat held over the nose! Teach the stay or "LEAVE IT!!" command to get her to stay that way for short times, then lengthen.
we're still growing out that between the eyes hair too. I've seen photos of people that get it into the top-knot, so I know its possible. I think its just taking a bit longer to grow out than the rest of it, because it has to BE longer to get as far and the rubber band.
Great thanks will try that and let you know hehehe.
Mady has that problem now, the hair between her eyes is long, but not quite long enough to get picked up by the topknot, so it looks real messy. I hope another month and it will be long enough.

You've just got to be patient and it will get longer, then flop either side of the top of the muzzle and sit flat. At that stage I use to get a comb, mist a bit of water there and part the hair on top of the muzzle with a comb and flatten it either side down with the comb. Sort of trains the hair then to go where you want it as it grows in length. Dont cut it just put up with it till it gets longer. The reason I say that is once cut your forever going to be cutting it because as it grows again it starts to stick up and fan in front of the eyes.

This is what I mean about the parting at the top of the muzzle right down the muzzle to the big black snoz. You can see at the top near the eyes under there the hair is divided with a part to make it fall either side.

Brushing her head, for the time being pop your hand under her chin and brush with your other hand and use a word like , head up, at the same time as lifting her chin up,try that to stop her face planting on the ground. Evenutally she will just do it for you with the command word pop her head up for you.

In the meantime as well as trying that, have her lay flat on her side with her head flat on the ground, groom one side of her head, ears etc then flip her over laying on the otherside to tackle the rest of the head.
Listen to Lisa- she knows what she's talking about! I used to trim the hair between the girls eyes, and now I'm trying to grow it out. I was forever trimming that stuff, and realized we just needed to let it alone and wait for it to get there. We're close- not very close, but close.
When the kids were younger, i would do their hair one after the other and billy would wait too. For his hair done too. I am lucky i only have to ask if he want a brush or do his hair and his there. His just a tart!
Thank you all some great tips and advice and I am getting a grooming table next week. Something else to squeeze into the house lol lucky they fold flat lol.
