chewing electric cords

YES Ryleighs new thing to do is chew up electric cords. Luckily MOST of them have been unplugged. My cord to the foot pedal to my NEW sewing machine- now gone. 2 extension cords- now gone. My sons ipod cord- now gone. These were all unplugged and on TOP of a high table. And now my laptop cord is gone too. and this one was PLUGGED in at the time. I dont know how she didnt get shocked! 8O Anyway its back to kenneling her up when I leave the house. And she was doing soooo good on not tearing things up anymore. UGH! Just sooo hard to stay upset with her when she gives you that sweet "what did I do" sheepie look. :plead:

Chewing electic cords can be extremely dangerous. Sounds like your pup needs a little more time in a contained area or he may hurt humself! If you don't want to crate him, maybe babygate him in the kitchen...just double check around to watch for anything he may chew.
Gracie has found telephone cords and stashed them in her crate, chewed. I have no clue where she found them. She also chews up books, glasses and mail. She also figured out how to open the container with my vcr tapes and dvd's and destroy some. Did I mention she is 8 1/2 and very immature? I know she is getting even for something but I don't know what. The peanut butter in her kong is a different brand and she doesn't like it. Grace only likes Jiff. The other 2 will eat the other brand but REALLY REALLY like Jiff. Also, Grace is turning up her nose at her food unless I put something special in. Today I picked up the Jiff and some other food to mix in. Hop it works. I never know what I will find when I get home...................I always PRAISE when everything is in tact.
Good Luck.

no way to babygate my kitchen. Its fully open to family room. So back in the kennel she goes. Hoping she out grows this one too. Shes only 1 so she still has lots of learning to do.
I'm not sure 110 would hurt her.
It'd be a heck of wake up call, though. She'd probably think twice about chewing on cords after that.

220 would be a different story, though.
two words......BITTER APPLE. you can pick this up at any pet store and it really works. coat the cords in the gel and I would set them in the typical places of coarse unplugged and watch to see if he goes for the cords. The stuff is bitter and one or two tastes should give him the message that cords are no good. If you can't move the cords to out of reach permanently I would be worried that I would forget to unplug something one of these days.
Chowder's 15 months and we still gate her in the kitchen and probably will for years. I understand you can't gate but what about those pens? When we were visiting family we used one of the pens they sell at Petsmart to keep her contained and that worked.
