HA I KNEW it.

The last time I had Simon to the Vet, I mentioned he grabs at his butt. Vet looked it over, felt around outside and said that maybe its fleas.

The past few weeks I've noticed Simon go for his butt. Can't reach it because he doesn't quite bend enough. Neither one of my dogs have fleas so I know its not that.

Took Simon back to the vet today and though I trust my Vet, I knew it was anal glands. The Vet looked around and found some clingons and said maybe that. I said NO, its his anal glands.

Finally did an internal check, his words "Hmmm, they are pretty far in there, oh yeah they are full".

They are not infected, which is good. Wish I would have insisted last time we were there though because I KNEW!!!(thanks to this forum)

Good for you for being persistent! :D

Emma has one anal gland that doesn't empty on it's own. According to the vet-tech, it's located a little off compared
to other dogs. I can tell when she needs "assistance" because she'll turn her head briefly and look at her butt like,
"Who's back there?" 8)
I'm glad you were persistent. It's always better when the vet uses both his/her expertise, and the observations of the owners.

And I'm sure I'm one of the people whose anal gland stories (to be clear, my stories, NOT my glands) have been discussed at length on here, so it's good to know others can benefit from all the experiences of others, no matter how stinky and indelicate.

Your title, HA. I KNEW IT! sure made me laugh. It's a rare breed of person who can annouce that in a semigleeful way with regards to anal glands.

It's so good we all have each other here. I'm convinced that the rest of the world just doesn't get me...but there's always someone here who does.
