Update on Matties health issues

I've been so busy worrying about Frankie I never updated on Matties tests.

Matties thyroid came back fine I think it's gone from .8 to 1.5 so it's not high like I originally had thought. So the vet put her on Desmopressin. It's a treatment for Central Diabetes Incipidus.
It's acutally a nasal spray used in humans, but used as an eye drop for dogs. So she gets 1 drop 2x a day alternating eyes because it can be irritating to the eyes.
This is a hormone that should send the proper message to her kidneys to do there job. She has been on them for a week now. She no longer lives in her water bowl or sleeps with her paws wrapped around her water bowl. The girlie that always had to go outside when asked, would rather catch up on her zzzzz's. So I'm hoping this is the cure to the problem.
It's a very expensive drug $210.00 for 5 ml. The vet said whatever you do don't spill it.

Mattie has also lost 10lbs since we got her in November. Way to go Mattie.... :cheer: :cheer:

So hopefully now she can settle in and be more comfortable knowing she's in a family that loves her :hearts:

Hoping Mattie continues to do well!
That is good news Lisa!
I do hope that this is the cure!! :crossed:

I think Jaci mentioned to you to maybe check Sam's or Costco to see if they carry it?
Yep, don't waste a single drop. Many dogs do extremely well on their "drops." Hope this is the answer.
Big hugs to Mattie too!

She's very lucky to have such a loving home. It's clear that you go above and beyond with your dogs.

Here's hoping life will keep getting better and better for Mattie.
Mattie is a very lucky girl. So glad she's doing better with the new treatment.

Boy, you've had your share of puppy medical issues lately, haven't you? :ghug:

Here's hoping you are through the worst of them.

Way to go Mattie! For a girl your size, 10 pounds is a lot!

My thoughts exactly. How lucky Frankie and Mattie are to have you.
Lisa - I have a friend here in MN who has her basset Oliver on those drops (he has diabetes insipidus too, obviously...). I know she did a bunch of research into finding the best price on them...do you want me to check w/ her?
Glad to hear that Mattie is doing so well. As the others have said--She is VERY LUCKY to have you as a Mom!
