Car Safety Harness?

Just curious - does anyone have experience with the "Buckle Up Pup" car safety harness? Here is their website: http://buckleuppup.com/products.html

We have a Jeep Wrangler without a back seat. We always kept our guys in seat belt harnesses with their leashes attached to the empty seat brackets on the floor of the tub. I can't decide if this looks more effective, or just more constraining. The only real reviews I can find are on the Buckle Up Pup site itself, so of course there are no unfavorable comments

I had a convertible and used something like this:

I was looking for something that was padded and restricted movement.
We used a similar harness, but it works best when there is a seat belt to hook it to. We have no back seat/seatbelts in the Jeep. We could run a leash to the roll-bar, but the floor attachment looks a bit more secure.

Hmmmmm. :lmt:
This one was made by Kurgo. The harness just has a D ring. There is a loop of seatbelt with a clip for the harness and then you thread a seat belt through the loop. But you could just as easily thread the loop through a carabiner (one that is made for rock climbing and designed to hold weight) and buckle that to the floor, couldn't you?

The issue with Betsy is that she is built like a little tank and I wanted something that would provide some protection as well as restrict her movement.

Here is a picture of the loop, though I don't see it on the website.

And I'm with you, I wouldn't use a zipline in an open vehicle.

Good luck!

Thank you! This article has some very good information.

Food for thought!
i've been considering a car harness for our future pup, we have a small car and the seats don't fold flat enough to place a crate on it so i thought this may be the best option. if someone could have a look at the link below and say if any of these are reliable/suitable it would be very much appreciated.

thanks in advance :)
The only advice i can give on a harness Ema is get one with a padded chest plate rather than just a webbing down the centre .
Something that looks like this :-

This is the harness I use. I don't clip mine to the seatbelt though I bought the extention and clip one end to the metal car seat attachments in the middle of the seats for child seats and the other end to the harness.

awesome thanks :) now to work out what size and how long it would be before we needed to get a bigger, hehe it's all exciting and the little chap/chapette hasn't even been born yet lol.
hmm ok so we were looking in an online pet shop for size guides and i have to say the price difference between harness' was incredible £10 - £80+ is this an item where you really do get what you pay for or is it a case of you pay for the label? we don't mid paying for quality but i begrudge paying for a name i've never heard of because some silly women just had to carry thier chihuahuas in a certain brand of bag. when we collect our new baby we're hoping my mums smaller crate is big enough, then move onto a travel harness so we know we will need to get probably three or more sized harness' as he/she grows so i really don't relish paying that amount three or four times if i'm not paying for better safety. is a caribena (however it's spelled) better/safer than one that clicks into the seatbelt clasp?
thanks again
Ema i wouldnt buy a very good one whilst the pup is growing. He /she is going to out grow it fast plus it is most probably going to get chewed .Remember the chewing part when buying as you don't want anything a pup can rip off and swallow. But get one with a padded breast plate and one that doesn't come to high round the neck.

For the first ones i would go with a clip in one. When the pup is older and if he is happy in the car and doesn't jump around I would go with one that threads through the seat belt as I know people have had problems with their large dogs being able to lay down with the clip in ones.
