I see Blood when my Dog Pees in his Urine -- HELP!

My dog's urine is usually good, but now it looks like I see blood when he is peeing.
It looks like he is in pain when he is peeing.
I went to the veterinarian, and he put my dog on some antibiotics.
Will the bleeding stop right away?

My yellow lab had this last year. She had a very bad bladder infection. They were worried about it causing crystal in the urine which would hurt her kidneys. Luckily I saw the blood and got her to the vet right away. The meds they put her on worked pretty fast. In a matter of days she was cleared up and feeling better. Good luck to you. :crossed:
Takes a couple of days but even by tomorrow you'll notice a difference.
Oh Ron, I am sorry your dog is going through this  Usually blood in the urine means a UTI. We have become the experts on this as my female has been having UTI's reocurring for several months

The meds should help. And I bet your dog is in a little discomfort when peeing if he/she has a urinary tract infection...I've had them myself. They are NOT fun! But the antibiotics should kick in quickly...

I might caution...my dog took a second dose of meds to clear the infection. You should bring a urine in about five to ten days AFTER you complete the meds to be sure its gone...

Hope all is better soon.
Ouch thats sounds painful, hope the meds work quickly. Summer had a wee infection about 12 months ago. I was worried as she doesnt wee much at all, and then it is very concentrated. So. I thought here goes and now soak her kibble for 5 minutes with hot water, and then put a dash of cold in and stir. Success, she is weeing much more often now!

ps only snag is as soon as the water hits the kibble the dogs rush into the kitchen, and the yorkie drives me mad for 5 minutes as she can smell the food! well you cant win them all!
We've had the same problem and went the antibiotic route the first time then when it started the second time I caught it right away and used cranberry pills from the health food store and it cleared up our female sheepie's problem very quickly.
Ron, how is he doing after the course of
antibiotics?
