We'd like to say: "hello"

Hi,
My name is Joey and I am a stay at home mommy to 3 kids, a husband, 2 cats and a one year old OES rescue named Plum. There is so much to say. We've only been together 3 months but we've already been through so much. I wish I knew the specifics of this sweet baby's past. I do know that my mom(sheepishake) took her from a woman who rescued our Plum from a woman's garage. She was kept in her garage because.....well I'm not exactly sure why. For a one year old OES she is mature beyond her years. She came to us not being potty trained and matted beyond belief but walks on a leash beautifully. She has never laid a tooth on my furniture or shoes. She loves my kids and listens to my 4 yr old when he tells her to sit and stay(for a treat of course). As I said so much to say. It didn't take us long to see her silly personality and happy smile. Plum almost never leaves my side.
I can't wait to meet some of you at Sheepiepalooza.
OH! I will upload pics of my sweet girl just as soon an I learn how :D

Welcome! I can relate to longing to know your baby's past. Charlie was found abandoned in a park... we don't even know how old he is. Just know he is scared of lots of things and is the sweetest boy!!! Maybe Charlie and Plum can share stories of their secret past lives at sheepiepalooza! Can't wait to meet her (and you). :)

Welcome from Ohio!
Welcome from New Jersey
Joey,
knowing your family as i do i can say you are the best thing to happen to this pups life. Your kids will grow up with a wonderful friend, you wll have another 'protector' of ears and eyes around your house....... and the unconditional love that is given back to you, will be unmeasurable.
At this point i would not worry about the past. Take each day as it comes, and just watch for any problems, but i know your mom will be there to help as well. Always remember to write any questions down you may have for your vet.

You will all do fine and i know the kids love their new PLUM>
Welcome Joey! I love the name Plum, very sweet. I imagine she is a cute girl...love to see some photos.

peg and howie
Thank you all for your warm welcomes.

I have so many questions about my pup. She's just been spayed about 6 days ago. She had an adverse reaction to the anesthetic. We've been through pain shot, nausea shot, and explosive diarrhea for 5 days. Finally brought her back for more meds and she is almost back to normal. My problem is that after many days of hamburger and rice she is only taking about 1/4 cup of food per feeding(I feed her twice a day because she is under weight). Plum only weighed 50 lbs when she came too live with us. Now she is(was) 60 lbs about a month later. We don't know what food she ate before she came to us so I've through about 3 types of food already. She gets really excited to eat and then looks in her bowl as if to say "what the heck is this swill??" Then relucantly eats it. Now after her steady diet of hamburger and rice her appetite or picky behavior is worse. I give her treats throughout the day(her fave!!) But I don't want to ruin her dinner. She is now on Taste of the Wild bison flavor. Does anyone have any feeding or food suggestions? The hamburger and rice diet is becomming time consuming and expensive. My kids are starting to complain I cook more for the dog lately :headbang: :)
Welcome Joey, Plum, and family from Texas.
Hey Joey. Welcome to the forum. :cheer:

Harry can't wait to play with Plum. I hope he isn't too much for her. :lmt:

I wonder about the food. Mopsy, the girl I had before Harry, would pout about her dinner but lived for treats. She was just being a pain in the a**. In fact, she only ate her dinner because she would get a treat (like dessert) if she finished her food. We went round and round about this the entire 10 years of her life.

As opposed to Harry if he doesn't feel well enough for his dinner then he won't take a treat either.

I think like kids these dogs can take advantage of you if your not careful. It is still early yet but I would consider this option.

Oh yeah..... we are waiting for pictures still.
