Pooping issues

Mady tends to be very reliable in the poop department. 3x a day, morning, lunch, evening. Rarely she'll go 2 or 4 times. But just this past weekend, on Saturday she had a very big poop in the morning, then nothing else that day. After such a big poop, I expected her to skip lunchtime, but I was a bit concerned when she didn't go again. The next morning, she had another big poop, and again, nothing the rest of the day. Yesterday she went morning and noon, but not evening. I am wondering if this is a result of the changing condition of the ground? We had a huge snowfall last Thursday, but then it went above freezing and became a very wet sloshy mess, since then there has been a mix of freeze and thaw, and the ground is covered in slush, hard crunchy snow-ice. I wonder if she could just be a princess and unhappy with the state of the ground? Everything else is normal, she's eating drinking normally, she's full of beans and bouncing playing normally, she's peeing normally. Is she holding it in because she doesn't like the state of the ground? Is this something I should be concerned about?

Has her routine changed at all? My two are creatures of habit. Each poop twice a day; once on our morning walk and once on our evening walk. If our routine changes, say we don't go on our morning walk, their poop schedule also changes.

Nice that you pay so close attention to her poop. Knowing your dogs poop can really help identify any problems. I'm an avid poop watcher!

Heh, a large part of my peace of mind and daily happiness is dependent on Mady's poop!
Poops here do vary, mostly by changing levels of activities.
Maybe she is growing up gastronomically?? 8) Little puppies poop lots, and it gradually lessens in number of stools, so maybe she is reaching a new plateau?

My stool obsession is mostly related to sports - timing feedings and travel to ensure we get a nice poop before we go in the ring, or harness.....
:clappurple: Summer goes at least twice a day sometimes three. Her food is divided into 3 so I suppose it makes sense. About a month ago they were really soft and smelly. I took her the vets and they gave her medicine. I contacted the dog food makers she was on and asked if the food had changed. They sort of skated round the answer. Anyway I have now over the course of 10 days changed her to Green Dog Food and her poos are much firmer. :twitch: She hasnt been weeing a lot either so I have now taken to soaking her food with hot water for 5 minutes and then putting cold on to cool it. So she is weeing more. Now the yorkie is on Iams and she is hyper. When this packet is gone I am going to try to get them both on the same food. :excited:
Glad to hear I am not the only nut who scrutinizes poop!

My dogs go in the morning always like clock work...then if they are running and playing outside they go again...then always after dinner or befor bedtime at night....So depending on what they are doing, one to three times...They have been known to go four times if they are extremely active running...

I would be more concerned if there as no poop! And yes, I think it does have something to do with seeing grass after so much snow...sort of oike they have to remark their turf!
I saw this post and wondered who had the poop issues. Then I saw that David posted. 8O One missed poop does not an issue make, dear. I must say, though, that I find it very endearing that you fret so much about Mady. Now go start fretting about how messy the house is!
Perhaps a combination of weather/growing up. If she's still eating and doing well, probably nothing to worry about.

We have pooping issues too. My husband just took two bags of mulch to the designated poopatorium area, because Charm loves to sneak a quick poo in the flower bed mulch.. :cow: And you know who will be dealing with that soon. Hope it works out :plead:

I thought you and David shared the same house. You communicate via the oes.forum 8O What happened to speaking to each other??

PS Wayne and I sit on sofas across from each other with a laptop each. I often send him skype messages just to stir the pot.

I hear you on that one! I've been up at 4AM to feed so José has 2 hours to rest after eating so he can poop before leaving for an obedience trial. Always poops better in his own yard. Then we get there & he gets nervous of new surroundings & vibes in the air & out we go again. Last place had a nice large graveled area.....just like home! :phew:
We do live in the same small house so sometimes he posts things and I learn about them the first time via the forum and he had typed them whilst sitting two feet away! We have been together a long time and I am enjoying the effect that Mady has on our relationship. I can now delve into the murky depths that make up David's brain via this forum! We also, for the first time, have cell phones and now we text each other during the day. We do communicate verbally (well, I do, he grunts and nods), and we actually spend pretty much all non working time together, but it is interesting how new forms of communication can add some fun. Are there other couples on this forum? I am curious to find out if they operate the same way, or if David and I are odd. We are probably odd....

Do many dogs have, err, preferred pooping landscaping? I know that, with the gradual withdrawal of the snow, Mady is looking worried about finding places to poop. I have been working on encouraging her that it is ok to poop on grass!

Who are you again?
ha, you 2 are funny.

I just got my non-techie husband into the world of texting (but haven't tackled computers beyond filling out his unemployment and playing poker  ) and he is a texting machine!
I originally got him a phone w/ texting, as I work 12 hour shifts and can't talk on the phone..and w/ him not using email, I needed SOME form of communication! Well, soon he used up the small text package and we had to go w/ unlimited texting!

We talk more via text about random things throughout the day than we ever did just talking. :lmt:

Not a couple, but Melissa (my sister) and I are both on the forum. We live together and co-love Izzie. Neither of us post very often, though.

Hah, Wayne thinks we're all odd. He wonders how much there is to say about sheepies. He's much more of a "just enjoy and shut up about it will ya" kinda guy.

I read that Mim, to Todd, he laughed and said "gee, did you tell her you know someone else like that too??"..... 8)
^^^^^^
Wayne and Todd could start up a "Just enjoy you dog and don't tell me about it" site. Except no one would ever post there.
I always laugh at myself and DH conversation seems to centre around, well you took them out did they Poop

Yep poop dominates this household, things like "How was it?", was it firm, did he or she do it etc etc.

Anyone that does not have a dog would think we are strange. 8)
A daily report so the other one knows if they need to go or not :twitch:

Poop rules with 3 dogs, who went who didnt etc etc and oooh was it a firmy or a bit on the soft side :cow:
