Charm is doing so well

I have to admit that I was extremely hesitant to get a puppy. Its been years, and I couldn't bear the thoughts of poo, pee, jumping, nipping, chewing, etc. That said, we could not be happier with our sweetest little(notforlong)puppy. Charm is sweet puppy yawns, pink belly and pouncing on toys. She stalks inanimate objects, gets startled by a sneeze, and is so darned cute, I don't know what we did without her.
I'm sorry for the gushing, but we are totally in LOVE :hearts: :hearts: She is very playful, loves each and every toy, and playing with anyone. She loves people, and greets all enthusiastically without much jumping~beginning to curb that now :crossed: She has those razor sharp puppy teeth, but is taking to stuffing her mouth full of a toy very well. Charm loves her crate, and when I offer a certain treat, she just goes inside and waits to be awarded. No crying or whining either, and no accidents, not one..outside the crate is another matter. Of course, there are the piddles but no poos inside(yet). Such a smart girl  We hit the puppy lottery!!! We are just ecstatic, and love her to bits. She understands a firm "No", and minds for the most part. But she is a sneaky sheepie, and gets into mischief when I'm preoccupied(like for less than thirty seconds  ).
Now, my question is...when I tell her "no", she backs up and gives me sass. She maintains strong eye contact, gives three or four argumentative yips, and if I say no again, she yips back. I don't think this is a worry, but do other sheepies offer "lip"..?? I'm guessing just testing the waters like a child?
We are in sheepie heaven...so very happy to have our Charm!!! Just wanted to share our delight, so much better than my "drained" post.

Thanks for looking after our puppy for us. We will be down to pick her up in May! Make sure she is groomed and blinged out. I wonder if the guards at the border would notice if we came back from the U.S. with TWO sheepies! :sidestep:

OH...That is sooo exciting!!! uhhhh...new pictures would be a great TREAT for us!!!!!!! :ghug:
Yay!!!
Charm sounds delightful! Baxter used to 'talk back' when told no! He would yip and kind of bounce like a bunny. It was so hard to not laugh when he did it  --but we didn't want to reinforce that behavior. I found that if I turned my back on him when he did it he would stop. It got better about 5 months. Occasionally--he will do it even now--but not often.
Thanks Karen, it is so funny to see her sassiness but can't be cute later. Best to ignore it now.
Oooh, you've got a little trash talker.
I agree with Karen- turn your back on her. I fold my arms, turn in the
other direction and walk away... they don't get my attention. I think
it's just an attempt to get us to interact with them.

You already know this but...
SHE IS THE CUTEST!! :D
Back talkers are so easy to ignore here....They get ignored and there's ALWAYS someone being good who you can praise/play with instead.
Using the pack to teach a new dog is the best! :clappurple:

Charm is very cute and so glad she's being a (mostly) perfect puppy. :D
Can't wait to see her in May!
She is a cutie! Gigi did the talk back too. Well still does... i too fold my arms, turn my head.. it works... unless she is hungry then she nibbles my butt!
Can't wait to meet Charm!
Little Miss Sassafras!! I agree you have to purposefully ignore that behavior to make sure she knows it is not acceptable - just turn your back before you laugh at her cuteness.

Cuteness is their weapon you know. :aww:

Sounds like you've got a perfectly delightful little girl there. Gush away - you're among those who totally understand! :D
So glad to hear that Charm is doing so well. Her puppy picture is beautiful. Your experience sounds just like ours...makes me wonder why I waited so long to get my first Sheepie. Libby talks back at least once a day...usually when I am on the phone and she wants attention. It is so much like having a toddler in the house. It usually only lasts a few minutes..it will stop if I offer her a toy and distract her. Love to see more pics...it is crazy how fast they grow...
My daughter talks back and I turn my back on her all the time. No guilt here... lol.

Charm sounds like fun. I would be a sucker for the cuteness but like someone said you have to ignore it so she does not make a habit out of it. She is awesome!

You are exactly right and at least with your back to her--she can't see you laughing at her cute antics!! They are such clowns from the beginning! Enjoy!
