Not a sheepie antic

Our agility instructor told us about a friend of hers in the US who has a kelpie from the same stud as the instructors. They keep in touch re how they're dogs are going. It was the big first trial for the US kelpie and on the way to the ring his owner realised that she was wearing her bait bag so she took it off and hung it on a tree. She also realised that she had never trained her dog with wearing the bait bag but figured what the heck how big a difference could it make.

They set up at the start line and she walked out for a 3 jump lead out. She checked back and was very proud to see her boy sitting waiting eagerly at the start line. She released him and he turned and took off straight out of the ring. 8O

He ran to the tree got the bait bag and bought it and put it at her feet and then sat as if to say "you forgot something but we're right to go now". :high5:

Apparently after they picked the judge up from his laughing fit the next pair had their turn in the ring.

Gotta love a smart herding dog. :hearts:

you can not go into the ring with out the necesary props.

he need it the complete outfit hehehehe
For exactly that reason is why I've never understood WHY anyone would want to train with one..... :lmt:

Pockets, people...that's the way to go!
I think that was really cute.
Ain't NO WAY that dog was doing to work without it's treats
Smart dog!!
But did he weave on the way back?

Great story!
I train a lot with a bait bag  I seem to have lots of clothes without pockets. I am gradually remedying that.

Also I use lots of wet treats. :P But I've bought some zip lock plastic bags to put in my pockets.

We got the story and the same point was made as Dawn made. POCKETS!! Julia said "just put up with the gross sticky treats in your pockets!" She's been known to wander round with a chicken neck on her person. :P
Story is too cute!!! I try to wear a hoodie with the pouch in the front. GREAT treat holder!!!!!!

LOL - I feel your pain. Mine is even worse - as I go right from work to class. So I have to plan work clothes that will work for agility class....sometimes that is way too much to remember the day before when I lay out my clothes   and I end up pocketless....

One of my classmates uses cut up hotdogs, so she always has her plastic baggie in her jeans pocket :)
