Energy Level and Exercise :?:

I wasn't sure where to post this.
This is my exercise plan. I would of course do less, if this much is not needed, but can’t do more walks. But I will do longer park trips on weekends.

1 hour walk in the morning, breakfast (still trying to figure this one out)
1 hour walk in the after I get home, relax dinner
1-2 hour romp about at the dog park
a 30 minute piddle break before bed.

If I feel I am away from home too long I have plans of hiring a dog walker to come around the half way point and do a 1 hour walk and 1 hour romp at the park. I am staying away from any breed that mentions High Energy, Better with Acreage, Vigorous Exercise. I will look for a dog that is specifically a bit more low energy.

Would that be sufficient to keep an Old English Sheepdog's energy level down in an apartment and keep the in an all around balanced state? Or should I do more or less. I'm just looking for what you would think an everyday average OES would need. A general idea is all. And thanks in advance! I have heard that a tired dog is a happy dog.

Looks good but on weekends try something different from time to time so their brain doesn't space out on the same old routine. New places, new sights, new smells....all good to keep the brain cells working. Even if I'm just going to the post office, someone gets a ride. Sometimes we go thru the drive in and they get a hamburger, I get the pickle. Sometimes we stop somewhere new and have new sniffs. Even the dreaded trip to the vet......which several HATE......will have a treat before and after with that ugly stuff in the middle.
Some OES are quite energetic, some are just plain couch potatoes.
The OES I'm fostering now who is 5 would be perfectly happy with that, as would most adult OES.
They really just want to be with you and doing whatever you are doing. :D
hmm, that could explain Jack.......eating and sleeping?? Yep, you got that right Dawn

Oh yes! I plan on doing all of that and more. I want to make sure my do is friendly and properly socialized. Plus all the car rides and hanging out will make up for the 27 years of not having a dog! lol That is one thing I want... not necessarily a needy dog, but one that just enjoys hanging out. Whether it be a nice walk or curling up at my feet while I read a book. My cat Johndy does the curling up part really really well. But does not like a harness put on her! lol I'm looking for a companion who enjoys going out side and on "field trips" lol

I am loving this breed more and more! I'm surprised that more people don have one. I have seriously never seen one in real life.
