OES mix in Utah

OK, everyone remember Philo? He was a wonder dog!!! We were told he was a mix too, but once he was on board, it was questionable. Looking closely at photo's DH and I agree, this little guy may be related. We picked up Philo from the same shelter.

I'm going to call the shelter tomorrow

Thanks so much, Devra!
I sincerely appreciate all you do to help these homeless furry kids.
I was looking through their shelter listings and it seems like all the dogs are listed as mixes even when they are clearly purebred dogs.
I think they do this just to be safe with their identifications.
I imagine shelters have had dogs returned because they
were later found not to be purebred.
Interesting, I've never heard of a shelter doing that.
I'm seeing more shelters listing dogs as "mix" as well. I agree with above - that it's a liability thing to protect the shelter.

He looks cute - hope it all works out! :crossed:
Phillip is in the house! We are now 99% sure this boy is Philo the wonder dogs' sibling. Philo was a question mark when we picked him up from the same facility in August. Within 24 hours we knew we had a winner! Smart, sweet, just a ball of fun loving joy. We questioned his claim to being OES, but once he was cleaned up, fed well, and loved, his pedigree started to show. Phil is in the same shape as Philo was when he started out.

Phil has a short tail, about 4", just like Philo. He won't be a big boy, currently at 50 lbs and doubt he will be more than 55-60.

I'll know more when he get's home from the groomer this afternoon.
That is GREAT!! :clappurple: :clappurple:

He looks like such a sweetie :hearts: :hearts:

Does the shelter know where these guys are coming from - were they surrenders, strays??
:clappurple: What a cutie! Phillip looks so happy! Can't wait to see him cleaned up!
Philo and Phil were picked up as strays. I just don't get it. Who would just leave these boy's to run? Philo is one of the smartest/sweetest sheepies we have fostered. Phillip is showing the same personality. The shelter "may" have additional info on Phil as this is his second time at the shelter. Hopefully they will call me when the computers are back on line.

Our boy is cleaned up and looking very handsome.

He's off to be neutered today, then he will be ready for a new home.
I also adopted my Forrest from a shelter in Ukiah. They said he was a mix because he still had his tail. We love the tail! I have been looking for a pal for him for almost a year, so if he needs a home, let me know. We are in Reno, (good climate for sheepies) and I could use a road trip.
Greenjeans, if you are interested in Phil, contact Bette @ Colorado Old English Sheepdog rescue. He is with me in Utah, but all requests are processed through Colorado. If you want more info, let me know.
Looks like a purebred OES to me! Someone is going to get a lovely dog.

Today was the day and the house is sad. Phillip started his trip to his furever home in Colorado. :(

Friends of ours took Phil as far as Grand Junction. Tomorrow one of our wonderful volunteers will take him to meet his next ride in Salida. Then it's all downhill from there and directly to his new home.

Our friends knew how much we loved Phil and kept us up to date with his trip. Side note: Our friends husband is not a dog person. He thought Phil was such a great boy, he agreed to transport and made a nice little bed for him in the backseat.

Phil and Philo brothers and the best pups we have had. It was hard to let both go. What am I going to do if another sibling shows up at the shelter?!?
Congrats on Phil getting his new home!!

And if another comes in??? I say KEEP him! :hearts:
My heart melts each time I see that pink splotchy nose! :aww:
Thank you so much for opening your home to Phillip and giving
him this second chance.

If a third littermate happens along, we'll all be wondering what the
next "P" name might be!

With a name like that, I bet she'll be a good one too.
