What size for grooming table

Hi there,
Biscuit just turned one and now I am thinking of buying a grooming table. I hope to keep
her hair long and just want to trim and thin for this moment.
I saw a few items on E-BAy but does anyone know which is the best size for her to be comfortable standing on?
Is 36" inch big enough? Will she grow much bigger after one?

Thanks
Johnson

We've got 2. The 24 x 36 was adequate, and the more portable for shows.
This is it with Chewie at a show-

The other one is 24 x 48.
I don't have a good picture of the bigger one, but it's a foot longer....
It is more handy for at home - the extra space lets you lay equipment on it and just have more room!
Being comfortable standing on a table isn't the concern. What is more important is that your dog can lay on its side comfortably so you can groom those hard to reach areas.

Nelson's table is 42" long and is too short for him when he's laying down. His legs and muzzle hang over the edge and he's not totally relaxed. Yes, he's a big boy so for most dogs that size would work fine. Unless it won't fit your grooming area, you'd be better off stepping up to something larger than a 36" table. Even if your dog fits fine, it's nice to have extra room to lay a couple grooming tools on the table.
Here's laying on the same table while doing a haircut at home. (I was looking for this picture when I posted the standing one and couldn't find it  )

As you can see, not a lot of extra room. It never bothered Chewie, but for some dogs it would. He has nodded off and fallen off several times, and it never affects his table sleeping ability!

This table is really my daughter's - I just had it while we were showing, as it's smaller and more portable. Guess I need to get a picture of him on the other one to compare... :lmt:
:lol:Funny that you asked this because I just took mine to the groomers to be bathed and fluffed. I do have a dryer here at home but he won't just sit and let me dry him. So I was jsut thinking of getting a table as well . That way if he is up off of the floor he will have to be a little stiller. They never have a problem with him at the groomers and say he is really good. Dawn I was looking at the picture of your dog (the one where he is standing on the tableat the show), and I must say what a beautiful dog he is, what is on the table there. I see and brush and comb what is the white thing??

It's the most handy little stripper...we call it the ripper

I hear through the grapevine that it's not being made anymore, and we hope it's a rumor.

Here's another picture of it-

And thanks. I think Chewie's pretty awesome as well! :hearts:
:yay: OMG I have one of those!!! I forgot about it !!! I am going into my petsmart tonight to pick up Oliver and will look. Is that what you use for little booger matts?
I have a 48" table that I use here at home. It was my 1st grooming table. Works gret for any dog that comes my way here. My husband made me a 36 " one for the girls as they were a bit smaller & it was lighter & easier to take to the shows when I was showing them. Then a few years ago I invested in a 44" table with a cut out handle & adjustable legs. What I like about it is that it is about 6"-8" wider than regualr tables so gives me just enough more room for my boys when they are laying on their sides.

This is how I dry my dogs after a bath. 2 fans opposite each other help to keep the dogs cool even tho' my hairdryers blow slightly warm air. I leave them in there for about 1 hour & then finish up the hard to get areas on the table with the canister dryer. With air hitting them from 4 directions they have never minded it. You could substitute a crate for an ex-pen.

It probably really is for small mats.
But we use it for shaping. Thinning out undercoat to give a better contour and shape for showing. Mostly in the neck/shoulder/throat area.
If used correctly, it thins without cutting hairs...so we brush all tangles out BEFORE we use it!

Even though we aren't showing now, it still works the same for taming down the prolific coat (think lion mane) a male grows. Chewie had grown so much coat there that his weight pull and x-back sledding harnesses didn't fit right!
So Dawn I just went to pet smart. I did see they have the little rake there, not the exact one because the handle is different, but other then that it was the same. I also just ordered a table off of ebay. It is a hydraulic one I hope it works, lol. When I went to pick Oliver and Lilli up at the Groomers I asked if he lets them use the hand dryer on him. They laughed and said he doesn't really like it but they do a little along with the cage dryer  . So I like the idea of the fans running. I could problably use the hand dryer as a blower on top in the cage!! Like it a lot Thanks everyone, even thou this wasn't my original post. :cheer:
