BEWARE!!! Delta Pet Air

Hi, just some info on shipping pups from my experience with Delta. My new baby boy was supposed to fly out of Iowa.....to Detroit......then, to Scranton, PA. His flight was supposed to leave yesterday moring and I was to pick him up at 4pm. Well, he made it to Detroit and then they bumped him off the flight leaving Detroit because too much weight on plane. Then, he was supposed to take a later flight and arrive in Scranton at 11 at night (that amount of time in a crate is traumatic enough!!) They then bumped him off that flight and I am now supposed to pick him up in Scranton at 12pm, today (the next day!!) Delta called me last night to inform me, and being concerned for his welfare, I asked if they can at least let him out of the kennel to potty.......the lady said "NO", got mad an hung up on me!!! At that point, I had no idea what flight he would take, what they do with him all night and when to pick him up the next day!!! I called back and after a half hour finally got through. They took him to a kennel for the night and again, I am picking him up today. I called the kennel this morning and the lady said he is soiled, his crate was a mess and he hadn't eaten or drank all day!!! I am sooooo sad for him!!! Please be careful if you ship or recieve a shipped animal on this airline!!!!! I can't wait to hold him and love him and make him feel safe again.

Oh, your poor baby :( :(

I hope he's OK after all this.
We shipped with Delta (many years ago now) and got our puppy just fine. I hope this is an isolated incident, and not a trend
Oh I'm so sorry that happened to your baby! We had a bad experience recently with an airline, not pet related, and I encourage you to notify customer service. It took two letters but did finally receive partial restitution, and perhaps wont happen again. Your situation is frightfully wrong, and mostly preventable, especially with communication. let us know how it goes with your new puppy, and welcome.
A lot of this is weather related. With the screwed up flight schedules due to winter weather, it is hard for airlines to adhere to schedules. I agree, there should be some provision for getting the dog out of the crate, but that's when the dog panics and runs away, often never to be seen again. It is a no win situation. I hope your baby comes through OK, gets a warm bath and can forget this awful experience.
Please let us know how he is after you finally get to pick him up, I'm sure everyone is anxious to hear. I don't blame you for being upset, if they are going to fly these pets they have an obligation to make sure they are taken care of properly.
I picked him up!!!!!!! He was sooooo good, not a peep out of him and he greeted me wagging his tail, or should I say butt, haha. Anyway, got him home, some food and water, let him settle down, outside to potty...............then bath and blowdry!!! He just sat there like an angel!! He is doing sooo well despite what he has been through!! He playing with all of his toys......he is sooo goofy too, he keeps cracking me up! I don't think he has ever seen a tv before because when I turned it on, he sat there by himself and watched it for 20 minutes, haha. I think I have found the love of my life (hope my fiance doesn't feel slighted, haha)............now I get it...........why all of you oes owners are so enthralled and obsessed with your babies and this breed!!! Post pics as soon as possible!

Glad your baby is safe and with you. Seems like they could have bumped luggage not a living creature!!!!
Happy things worked out in the end, and welcome from Texas! :D

Kolby is 10 months old tomorrow and we absolutely love him! Best of luck with your new baby and glad to hear all turned out okay. I appreciate the warning about Delta. We may be shipping a new puppy home this Summer so I will definitely research the airlines.
