Mattie went in for her full blood work up

Mattie has been a member of our family for a little over a month now. She's settling in a little. We have gone 1 whole week with out any snapping or growling at Frankie. :clappurple: :clappurple:

We have her on L-Theanine which is a herbal supplement that is supposed to help with anxiety while still being able to work on and hopefully correct behavior.

We took her in yesterday for her full blood work up. She was also tested for Thyroid problems and for Cushings disease.

According to her old vet records she has had skin problems for a very long time. Those are clear right now. A month of good food and love sure makes a huge difference.
She also has gained 5 lbs in a month. That being said she has been on the green bean diet and still gained. :?
We should have the results back tomorrow or Monday on the majority of the stuff, and the cushings results middle of next week.
Hopefully we will be able to figure out whats going on with her with these tests.

 Just cut back some on the kibble or go to a low fat one with lower calories if the vet feels it's appropriate.

I'm so happy for you all that she's settling in.
Happy to hear she is settling in! Bet Frankie is too. Now it's just a waiting game for the results. Fingers crossed they come out all good.
Good luck with the labs.

I too have found with our rescues (even the horse rescues) what a multitude of things that improve health-wise with good nutrition. Truly "we are what we eat"!
My money is on the thyroid. Our first sheepdog, Quincy, never had behavioral issues, but he started putting on weight, even as we cut back....and back.....and back. He got up to 125 lbs 8O while eating 2 1/4 cups of kibble per day and only carrots for treats. Even when we did the bloodwork, he came back borderline hypothyroid, not clinical yet. My vet started him on meds anyway, and he dropped to a svelte 115 lbs in no time, while eating 3 1/2 cups of food per day and getting treats. He was a much happier dog!!! :D

So glad Mattie is settling in.
