Confessions of a cat/dog/bunny lady

Kaj: "What do you want for Christmas?"

Me: "I would love to try to have Petunia operated on again" (Petunia was a little SPCA turnover to me as she was born was a protruding anus and sometimes it takes a few surgeries for the stitches to finally take).

Kaj: "You can't ask for that for Christmas as we'd get that done anyhow"

Me: " Yes, but I also want to take Jude in and have his eye removed, that will cost quite a bit of money". Jude was also a SPCA turnover and although he's had four different types of ointments for his eyes and has seen numerous vets - his eye is still sore and goopy looking. I just don't want the poor little thing to suffer.

Kaj: "You can't ask for that for Christmas as we'd get that done anyhow.

Me: Yes, but that's a lot of money and I would rather spend it on Petunia and Jude.

Me: Oh and I want Roger, our oldest senior cat to have his blood panel done in January as it's our vets annual discount for senior pets. We can save 30% if we get it done and Gilligan is also supposed to be retested in January.

Kaj: You can't ask for that for Christmas as we'd get it done anyhow.

Me: Yes but that's a lot of animals and it's something I really want.

Me: Oh and we should buy Revolution and Advantage for all the pets too. Panda and Gilligan also needs more Deramaxx. Merlin is getting matted and I think we should have him groomed as well.

Kaj: shakes his head and again says "You can't ask for that for Christmas"

Me: I say why not if it's something I want. I also have to stop and buy cat/dog/bunny treats and hay.

Kaj: You can't ask for that for Christmas

Me: You don't understand it's something I really really want and that's what Christmas is all about. I also want to bring home that poor little SPCA cat that's at the shelter with the broken jaw to recoup at our home and Darla the other SPCA foster would have company.

Kaj: Shakes his head again

So...in the end Petunia and Jude visited the vets again although my vet felt it was worth trying to solve Jude's eye problem but at least now I had several test done which the SPCA hadn't done as it required extra monies they can't spend on the animals. (Roger and Gilligan will be going jan 3rd).
Everyone got their Advantage, Revolution and other meds they needed and I'm happy as I got exactly what I wanted for Christmas. Although I did find a pair of snazzy red shoes under the tree as well.

Sorry to break this to you, but Kaj is right. You can't ask for stuff that is going to happen anyway. You *have* to ask for something for YOU. Like snazzy red shoes for example (all the while making sure the babies have everything they need) sheesh lady you have lots to learn
:cheer: you got your shoes and the pets got their treatments as well, sounds fine to me.... :hearts:
Sounds good to me too and I think Kaj was probably really fine with it and you got red shoes.
i'm really glad those red shoes were described as snazzy rather than another set of red clown shoes, because those would have been for others to enjoy and you deserve something for yourself.

glad the animals are all taken care of.
...and hopefully this also means you are going to go somewhere fun to enjoy those snazzy red shoes!!!
Well I figured I may have to go out sometime to wear those snazzy shoes and the bonus was Kaj saw the matching purse on Boxing day and got it for 1/2 price. Whoo Hooo Now when am I going to wear them you ask? I think the last time I went dancing was in 1998 or 1999. The last time I went out for dinner was probably 2003 or 2004. Macdonalds does not count. :O) Before, anyone feels sorry for me however, don't, as it's my choice to be home with the animals after work and on weekends and it's something I really love. Besides, I will wear those red shoes to work If I choose.

Today,( my last day off before returning to work tomorrow) was Roger's (senior cat) and Gilligan's vet appointments. Murphy's Law prevailed.

I smelled Panda's ear and egads ...I knew instantly he had another ear infection. I called the vet and made a separate appointment for him. Okay so now I'm going to the vet 3 times today. Jan is geriactric month and there is a discount to have this done for senior pets. I had hoped to do Panda in 2 wks time but now it can't wait as his ear needs to be seen. Panda has had reoccurring ear infections for the 6 years I've had him.

Then.....OMG!!! NOOOOOOO Merlin who is my best medical boy. Shows you what good breeding does in the long run compared to Panda (who was puppy mill) and probably not ethical breeding for Gilligan either. I never have had a medical issue with Merlin in 6 years! However as I mentioned, Murphy's Law prevailed today as Merlin was running full speed and banged into something. His foot was obviously sore and he was unable to put any pressure on it.

Another call to the vet...can I bring him in too?

So that's my very busy day of vet appointments at 8:45, 11:45, 3:00 and then at 4:00.

Gilligan had a hotspot and has a nasty mess on his backend, Merlin is wearing new shoes as thankfully X-rays showed he didn't break his toe but it's swollen 3 times it's normal size. Being a good mom I stopped and purchased shoes for him on the way home as he's not supposed to chew at that area. Panda for the first time ever was able to have his ears cleaned without sedation, same goes for his bloodwork,,,but that shows you what a muzzle and 6 staff people can do, Roger, despite his advancing age looks really good.

I'd say it was a good day overall and despite the frailities of my many seniors and special needs furkids - they are worth it!
