Merry Christmas to you from Canada

I used to celebrate Christmas Eve with my family (who are originally from France) but most North Americans celebrate Christmas Day and traditionally have Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, Yam, Corn, Peas, Sweet Potatoes (sometimes), Brussel Sprouts (which no one eats but everyone makes) and stuffing for the Turkey. Of course - lots of gravy.

This is followed up by loosening of belts and complaints of how full everyone is. Then desert.

Hope you had a wonderful day!
Hi Marin,
Merry Christmas to you and Aska. :santa2:
Merry Christmas Marin and Aska! It sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas Eve. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Day...When we get up in the morning Santa has come and we open our presents. For breakfast we have hot chocolate pudding and rolls...this is a tradition from my hubby since his Mom was from Germany I like to have our main meal in the middle of the day..this year Turkey, Ham, green beans n bacon, corn on the cob, broccoli n cheese, rolls, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce. We don't make stuffing because I'm the only one who eats stuffing. This year we only had cherry pie for dessert because I still had Birthday Cake left over and my kids are not big dessert eaters. We had Lasagna for Christmas Eve Dinner which is a tradition I've had since my children where young. We use my good China/Chrystal and eat in our formal Dining Room. I do give the dogs each a plate of the holiday dinner we are having as well.
Eating dinner in the middle of the day allows for nibbling the rest of the day.:)
So that is our tradition here in Florida U.S.A.
Merry Christmas Marin and family, in Australia, Santa comes down the chimney while we are all asleep on Christmas eve, in the morning there is presents under the christmas tree :tree: We leave out treats for santa while he is in full swing overnight delievering pressies to all the good kids.

Usually christmas day is our christmas feast, wether that be lunch or dinner time to catch up with the rest of the family and friends and over-indulge in festive food. Our climate is usually hot this time of year, a lot here follow a english tradition of christmas fare/feast, the usual of turkey, roast of some sort, plum pudding all sorts of typical english style of christmas food, but if the weather is warmer on the big day, then BBQ's rule with salad, seafood, and rather then a hot plum pudding, pavlova, cheesecake with ice cream is the order of the day too when hot or even fruit salad for desert.

This year for lunch we had, for starters, seafood, fresh king prawns (Shrimps) and lobster with a dipping tarte sauce, followed by the main course of boneless leg of lamb, marinated in "Lemon, rosemary and garlic" on the outside hooded BBQ, with lots of fresh salad and for dessert a lemon tart with ice cream and cream, it was 28c so we sat outside to eat our christmas feast, here not too hot and not cold so a perfect christmas day. A bit warmish for a tradional christmas fare so usually we go by the weather as to what is served.
Hi everyone and happy new year ! :go: :yay:

Thanks for your reply :-D
I love your traditions! :D
And the food sounds GREAT ! :-D
I see that many of you have turkey... we have turkey, stuffing and more on New Year's :P

Here in Iceland there are 13 santa's.
And the kids put their shoe in the window and get little present every day for 13 days before December 24 and the last gift is bigger and under the christmas tree.
My mom has that tradition that the last gift is something to sleep in and a puzzle
The kids know all of the santa's names and the row that they come in.
And then it's their mom who is ugly and scary. She takes bad kids and makes soup and eats them :twitch:
I think its not nice to tell the little kids that, but they do behave well
And the christmas cat eats bad kids to.
There is a LONG story about these 13 santa's.
They used to steal and were trashy and well BAD.
Now they come to the schools and give candy and more

Well, sorry about a long post

Happy new year again :excited: :excited:
