When to switch to adult large breed food

Hi OES Experts - Kolby will be 9 mos. old on Tuesday (hard to believe) and I have received conflicting opinions about when to switch him from Large Breed Puppy to Adult Dog food. We have had him on Buffalo Blue Taste of the Wild but seems to be giving him some GI issues. So, we're gradually going to switch him over to Innova Large Breed Puppy. Some dog food reps have told me to switch him to Adult food at 9 mos. Others have recommended 1 yr. and still others 18 months. So.. I'm a bit confused :lmt:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Happy Holidays to all!
Jackie

I have always switched from puppy to adult food at a year.
I've tried to hold out to a year, but often do take them off eariler as the puppy food starting causing problems. If you can get to a year, great. Maybe just reducing the % puppy food mixed with adult for several more months....? Compare the ingredients, maybe there's something in the puppy food not in adult food and maybe source of problems.
I'd say that can vary a bit, especially as all brands of foods and their puppy and adult rations can be different, and have a bearing on that.

Generally, I switch by at least 9 months. But I also have been known to add in puppy food to adult rations when I want some of the characteristics of them for specific situations. I'm a huge label reader and mix and match stuff to suit the needs of my dogs.
