Final snow totals for this week's lake effect event

Ok guys,
Here are the final tallys of the lake effect snow event we had this week:

...ONONDAGA COUNTY...
DE WITT............................58.2 inches
SYRACUSE (downtown).........58.2 inches
LIVERPOOL..........................54.7 inches
CLAY..................................52.1 inches
VILLAGE GREEN.....................49.6 inches
SYRACUSE (airport-official).....46.1 inches
CAMILLUS............................45.2 inches

These are the totals for Syracuse and some of the surrounding suburbs.

Remember, it started snowing at around 6:00 AM Saturday (12/4) and didn't stop until around 2:00 PM Thursday (12/9).

We broke single day snowfall records for 3 of the days, length-of-continuous-snow-without-a-break records, and I think total-snowfall-for-one-event records.

And we now have a Nor'easter to deal with on Sunday (will probably be mostly rain; flooding could be an issue) and then the lake effect on the back side of that storm. They're saying 1-3 feet of snow next week.

PLEASE...Keeep that dam snow up there and DO NOT send to souther NY...We get crippled with 6 inches! And by the way, I am only a little more than five feet tall...I can't comprehend snow taller than myself! 8O 8O
Hooo aaahhhh!

Thatsa lotta snow!
Oh boy, not rain. Flooding is a very serious concern!

Do you belong to http://www.Cocorahs.org? They are always looking for weather reporters especially with snows like you've had since it varies greatly up there with the banding.
OK, now I feel bad about complaining that I have to make an attempt to drive the 52 miles to work through our little blizzard (somewhere between 6 and 8 inches PLUS a bonus of ice/freezing rain) tomorrow. I may end up staying overnight at work.......
That really is something to have to deal with. I've never dealt with anything like that but do know there will be a lot of cars in the ditch today down around Green Bay, we can get an inch and traveling thru it's one after the other. Last year we went down for Christmas and of course was fine when we left home by the time we got to Green Bay they had 41 closed as 22 cars were in the ditch. That was one of the longest trips we've ever made. Have had ice and feezing rain a few times and hate that worse so think we'll just stay home.

Tomorrow we're suppose to have frigid temps and blowing snow, so will probably be Monday before it can be cleaned up.
OK: I drove in like an idiot and am now stranded at work but at least am warm and safe. Final totals for 24 hrs are expected to be 20+ inches. Tomorrow, temp drops to sub-zero range, plus (or minus) wind chill. I hope I can a) get my car started tomorrow b) get my car out of the parking lot tomorrow c) go home tomorrow.
Did you make it? We didn't go anywhere and don't know how much we actually got, do know it wasn't as much as you. The wind is ferocious and I'm hoping the power doesn't go off, we don't have a generator. The temps are dropping every hour until we hit about -20 by tonight; think it will be sooner. Carl shoveled part of the dog pen so they could get out the door but think that's all that will be done today.
Hope you make it home too!

I'm still at work, but I'm actually supposed to be here  - I'm scheduled Saturdayand Sunday, 7a-7p.

Last night with all highways closed, the night nurse couldn't make it in either. So I slept over in the spare bedroom here, and started working again at 7am. Our agency is based in Red Wing, and have clients across So MN, up to the cities, and into Wi as well. The staffer on call said 40 of the 42 nurses for nights had called in...and ours couldn't come either w/ the road closures, so that made 41!

I worked 4 extra hours last eve (7-11pm) - and got overtime, and they are giving me a bonus for being here and working today!!!
At least it worked out well for you and you were safe and warm.
Got snowed into my building--car was buried under snow over hood and windshield. On Sunday, got dug/pushed out (parking lot had been plowed by then) and made it to a hotel where I stayed, anticipating taking a nap and then driving home. But there was a lot of blowing snow (across prairie), one highway I take was down to 1 lane for a 10 mile stretch and a co-worker told me she was turning around on the interstate and going back home because of blowing and drifting, so I stayed put for Sunday night as well.

This morning, I got up and my car battery was dead. Given the plunging temperatures, huge number of vehicles off the roads or also with dead batteries, I waited 2 1/2 hrs for AAA to come jump me. I stopped and got a new battery on the way home and finally arrived home at 2:00 p.m. today, having left for work Sat. morning.

Never, ever again will I be brave/stupid and try to go to work when my own common sense tells me to stay home.
