Matties vet appt

I took Mattie to the vet today for her check up.
It didn't go as well as I had hoped.
No worms
Heart sounds good.
Then they took a urine sample. They think by the concentration levels that she has either Cushings disease or Diabetes Insipidus.
He wants to get her skin condition under control then in January we will have tests run to see exactly what it is.
We have fallen in love with this little girl and will be her forever family no matter what is wrong with her.
The vet told her she found the perfect parents :hearts:
I sure hope they didn't give her up because she was sick

Oh no! I have no idea how hard those conditions are to treat/cure (I am sure there will be lots of information on that) but I just wanted to express my sympathy. What an unhappy shock to learn about your sweetest, most beautiful girl. :ghug:
cushing's is fairly common in horses and isvery easy to manage with meds that are oral. With horses there are fat deposits and hair changes which suggest the diagnosis. Hopefully the tests will shed some light and get her on the mend. Mattie is so lucky to have found such a great mom. Mattie and Frankie have to be excited to have such a wonderful mom :cheer: :cheer:
Lisa - was her urine very dilute, or concentrated?

If it's dilute, it may be a temporary thing. With her being moved around and under stress with everything, it is a VERY common stress behavior to over consume water. Water intoxication is just that - by over consuming water, it gives a feeling of calming and sedation.

It usually resolves itself in a few weeks. For some it is more severe (addicting) and water needs to be measured and rationed. But most often it's just temporary.

Hope this the case with Mattie. :D It really is very common in dogs who are uprooted, moved and had life changes like that.

It was very dilute, I can't remember the ratio he gave me but her urine was practically water.
She's not having accidents, and sleeps in her crate for 8 hours at night.
Hopefully it is nerves.

Thanks

Poor Mattie. Sounds like you have your hands full. Hopefully this issue is temporary.

I hope it is just stress!! :plead: :plead:

And things will be all fine after she settles down
