Kaye Fletcher Friends & Maraposa Oaks Families

I just received a note that last Saturday, Kaye Fletcher (on the forum she's known as "Shug") lost her home, 2 precious dogs and all of her possessions in a house fire. Eleven dogs were saved (God bless those who saved them. :hearts:) Five of these babies were rehomed today and the remaining ones will remain with Kaye.

I was told tonight the insurance company had dropped her home owners insurance due to wiring problems. A fund has been set up at the First National Bank under "Fletcher Family Fund". On Monday, I'll get more information and share it should others wish to donate too. My life has forever been touched and made better because of Kaye.

Thanks for posting Jaci..
Poor Kaye has been through so much
Kaye's husband had been a guard at a prison and while working, he had been savagely beaten and left with a permanent brain injury. He has been in hospitals/facilities for the past 7 years. Both Fletcher and Kaye lost so much that dreadful day.

I originally met Kaye as a breeder after we lost Nikki. Kaytee is one of hers and was loved enough to be allowed to celebrate her 6th birthday earlier this week... all because Kaye felt this puppy with a cleft palate deserved a chance. So she tube feed her round the clock for the first 5 weeks. It had to have been exhausting. http://oesusa.com/KayteeHaircut-102310.jpg

These are some of the faces of dogs that Kaye took in through Heart to Heart OES Rescue in the early days-

I was talking on the phone tonight with a friend... I had just mentioned how much I had learned from Kaye about natural ways to care for OESs. It was just minutes later that I find an email from Laura about the fire. I haven't talked with Kaye in quite a while but I think I can say for a fact she's devastated about loosing two of her babies in the fire. So you're right Kathy, life has not been easy for Kaye yet she continued to try to help others.

PS- Laura, if you were finally able to log on, I didn't originally place this in the Dogs In Trouble category.
Poor Kaye
I know she must be devastated...
None of us know what goes on in any life until you live it!
I can't imagine what I would do without my dogs!

BTW...I have tried to cross post to anther list
but, I am "moderated" so I hope the info will
get up there :(
How sad. Even in the the article, you can tell she is a very selfless person. She must have a heart of gold.
I remember Kaye. A lady with a huge heart but constant problems. I'm glad she is willing to let some of the dogs be adopted. There are just too many for her now. May she find some peace.
This is information from Laura... she can't log in.

That really bites. Kaye always seemed to have the best interest of the dogs in her heart. ...and I remember all she was dealing with regarding Fletcher.

Kaye was an active member here for about a year and a half, but she hasn't logged in during the last 4 years, give or take.
Oh wow. Thanks for posting this- I will definitely help out. I adopted Tony from her (the Parvo pup - one of her miracle babies). Tony is doing fantastic - despite his severe HD.
Laura, Kaye's friend, wrote to me this morning that Kaye met with the fire chief/police and the burn pattern suggests arson. People have been looting so she had to return to Clyde. From the video, it's hard to believe there's much left to steal.

I know... maybe better than most. She took her beatings and disconnected from everyone. There were times we didn't agree and we parted ways when I adopted Panda from NEOESR in 2005. I wanted another special needs dog and Panda was that dog. Kaye was going through hell yet she still wanted to save dogs. I've only talked with her once since then and it was because a rescue needed to reach her. I'm very sad for what she's now going through... I can't imagine loosing everything including two of my dogs... and having to face this basically alone.

If you were left with nothing but your 5-6 dogs, what dog things would you want most? Help me figure out the best way to spend $200 with probably Petedge.com. I can't do a whole lot but I can try to give her the means to groom and control her own dogs again.

Leashes?
A clipper
A comb and brush
Nail clippers

such a great idea!!! food, dog bowls, beddings/mats (if her dogs have medical issues).

Arson- so sad - really hope the community pulls through - especially at this time of the year. :hearts:
Good idea Jaci!
Before you make your order let me check some of
my other clippers and see if they work! They are
not cheap so, that would leave money open for
other stuff!
I have lots of collars and leashes we do not use!
I can dig through stuff tomorrow!

I wish I had money to offer but, I really can't right
now so, I would love to give those babies some
of the things we have extra of here!
:hearts: :hearts:
Bless them all! Mama Kaye too!
Good morning all! I am finally able to log on! (Thanks to Jaclin and Ron!) I posted under Dogs for Rescue about the six that Kaye is going to adopt out. She is heading back to be with Fletcher and to try to find somewhere to live. The investigation is ongoing in Clyde as to the cause of the fire. I appreciate everything everyone is doing/trying to do, and I know Kaye will, too. I simply can't imagine what it would be like to lose everything - I mean everything - and not have a pot to pee in. It makes me so sad. I've been in the middle of a huge move from Amarillo to Houston area, so I haven't been much help, but there is a church group there in Clyde that has stepped up to help out, and Kaye has friends there in Clyde she has been able to stay with. She needs desperately dog bowls/food, blankies, a laptop (big order, but if someone has an extra it would be great), gas money to get back and forth. I am going to board the remaining dogs for her at $10.00 a day so that they can come out of the "cages" (as she calls them) and maybe that will take some stress off. It strikes me this morning that during this holiday season I have to stop to remember that everything I hold dear, material-wise, could be taken from me at any moment. I am grateful beyond words for my health, home, family and friends, especially my four-legged friends. Thanks again for all -

Laura (and Annie, Koda, Harvey and Diana)
Laura,

Does Kaye have any small dogs? I have a couple leashes and collars but will only fit a 20-30lb maybe. I can also send blankets and what not. Is there an address??

I also would like to donate some money to help. Is the best place directly to her or to the bank acct?

So sad! :(
Hi sweetie! No, no small dogs - they are all larger. The money is going through the First National Bank of Baird, the Fletcher Family Fund, and there is an account number somewhere on this forum, but I am sure with Baird being such a small town, they will know. Thank you so very much. You're a real angel for helping. :)
I'd like to respond to the fund at the bank, I can't do much but suppose every little bit helps. She has been thru so and now to have to put down the dogs even tho it's for the best has to be devastating.

Our home burned down when I was three, nothing like what she's going thru but it still was very devastating and I can remember it clearly.
Is there a website that shows all the dogs she rescued so I can include in letters?

I used to maintain the website for her but only though 2005. I still have a copy from May 2005... but it surely doesn't
include all the dogs she helped over the years. I could compile a page showing dogs assisted early on... would that help?
I have some addresses this morning for donations/cards. You can send donations of any kind to Kaye in c/o T.L.'s Critters, 822 FM 2700, Clyde, Texas 79510. T.L.'s phone number is 325-627-6101. To send Fletcher a card, it is Rupert Fletcher, Brinlee Creek Ranch, 3325 Pate Way, Anna, Texas, 75409.

Thanks to all who have or are donating, and thanks for the general well wishes. It is most appreciated and is being passed on daily to Kaye. Hugs!
How's she doing? Any new updates? We think of her often.
Hello,
I just stopped by here only to read about Kaye & Fletcher. My Husband and I have been trying to contact Kaye for a few years now just to keep in touch. We adopted the boy in the lower left of the posted picture. Also, Kaye gave us one of the "miracle" babies "Gracie Kaye". Both are fine and loved.

I am heartbroken for Kaye and just want to make sure the contacts posted here to send her money are still good? I want to help and thats the first thing I can think of.

Any updates on her finding a place to live and any babies still needing a home?

Kaye had some wonderful friends here...I am so grateful you are all helping :)
Thank you all,

Nancy & Joe
Hi everybody! It's Laura!!! I wanted to let everyone know that I lost my Annie on Memorial Day. She was 12 years old, and boy howdy did we ever have a good run at life. I miss her so. I wasn't going to get another one, so I decided to foster Jake. He's half Lab and half Newfoundland. Well, I kept Jake. Then I welcomed Dazzle into the family a month ago. She is 3 months old now and 25 pounds and growing rapidly. Life is not complete without a sheepdog. I don't know how to download photos on this page, so if anyone is smarter than I am (ha -- I am SO technologically inadvanced) let me know.

Has anyone heard anything about Kaye and/or Fletcher? I've completely lost touch with them, ever since the fire. I heard from her one time after that, she called to apologize. She owes me a substantial sum of money which I already know I will never see again, but that's neither here nor there. I heard somewhere, but don't ask me where, that she had passed. The last I knew they were in Ana, Texas, but I know he was released from the rehab place so ...

I hope everyone is doing wonderfully well and hugs to you all and your sheepdogs! My new email is slightlynothere@yahoo.com -- I lost my old account, so if anyone has been trying to find me, here I am!

What a wonderful combination! Know the mix well and see them on Petfinders and really have to suck it up not to bring them here. They do shed.......the blow.......after a sheepdog it is quite a change, but if Jake loves to be brushed, he'll roll on his back, let his tongue hang out the side and say, "Over here, it feels sooooo good to be brushed!" Many years together.

Sorry about Annie........12 years is just too short!
Welcome back Laura. I hope you can figure out how to post pix of your babies.

Kaye was a special, person. Let us know if you find out anything about her status.
Hi Laura,

That's so sad about Kaye. I've been thinking about her. We still have one of the miracle babies, Tony. He was the one who had parvo and wasn't adopted out at the same time as his litter mates. He's doing great minus the hip dysplasia. Do let us know if you hear anything more.
Hi Laura-
I didn't see your post until tonight... I'm so very sorry to hear about Annie. Emma and Darby turned 12 and Kaytee 11 last month. Hard to believe so much time as passed. I've thought about Kaye and Fletcher, too... how they loved their "baby, baby, baby"s and helped to create such exceptional temperaments in their puppies. All three still adore people.

Too big a hole is left when we loose an OES... glad you've found love again! :D I hope you're doing well and that you'll share pictures of Jake and Dazzle.

Please let me know if you hear anything about Kaye and Fletcher? I've thought of them a lot this past year, searched online once to see if I could find them but no luck.
Hugs-
Jaci
