P.S. to 2nd Sheepie post

OOPS! Forgot to mention in my previous post that we won't be purchasing the 2nd puppy until after June when Kolby will be 1 yr. and 3 mos. old. I will be retiring from 34 years teaching Special Needs children! Vet also suggested a female.

I've had five sheepies over my life, and all were good with other dogs (except our current RescueRudy...but he's working on it). I have, however, had some sheepies who were uncomfortable with smaller dogs. I don't know what it is. Two of our past guys kept an eye out at all times, and did NOT like a small dog around their paws. No aggression or anything, just a clear sense that they were not impressed or comfortable.

I think that, if you do it correctly, you can introduce another dog of any size/breed and have them be lifelong friends. But due to the size of a sheepie, I'd go with a medium to large size one. And frankly, it's really cute when you have sheepie bookends.
Thanks Tracie! Your 5 dogs are gorgeous! We actually have "rethought" about the small dog idea and have decided to go with a second Sheepie! We love the breed and it makes so much more sense. We would be devastated if a "munchkin pup" got injured by Kolby - unintentionally of course. Thanks for your advice!
glad to hear another sheepie yea.. my boys are year apart and it is good they tire each other out.. instead of me
