Oh...what a cutie!!!!!! I wish sooo much that I could adopt her! She is exactly what I want when I am ready to get another luvbug...I hope she gets a great, loving home!!!!
She is a doll!
On the website for the rescue, she is listed as a deaf pup needing special care. So lets hope the right person comes to call for this sweetie!
Yes, she's a cutie. :D
Ouch though... $550 for a deaf dog??

Very cute but, I agree...when I got Finners and Georgie
both they were FREE!
(if you don't count the expense of chewed up tp     )
SHE I ONLY 45 MINUTES FROM ME..WONDER WHAT BREEDER THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT ..do not know of any in that area??
I agree, wonder what breeder and will they continue to breed knowing there is deafness in the line.......of course they will. So much for special breeder.

Love the name and being deaf, having a 3 part name isn't going to be a problem, she can't hear it!

Hope she finds that special owner!
Geesh - 550 is a lot of money for a deaf pup. It doesn't make sense to me - how can a puppy reject turn into $550 adoption fee?

My parents rescued a german shepherd wannabe (in other words a mutt) from a German Shepherd rescue organization and paid a hefty fee. The organization's reason was that $$$ will give them the opportunity to save other "mutts".

I really hope that is their intentions as well.

me too. I'd call her Sassy though.

Completely off the topic --- Being deaf myself, I have friends who give their kids stupid names only because they don't have to hear/pronounce them. Sometimes they forget that other people DO have to pronounce them:) It's one of the annoying trend in deaf culture that I'm not proud of.
To heck with the deaf part.
$550 seems like a lot of money for ANY rescue dog at a pound.

But she looks like a sweetie.
I hope she ends up with a great owner in a great home.
I noticed they do not ask that much for the mixed breeds....
A mixed breeds vet bills are not any less than PB :lmt:

(I willl stop myself now)

Not just the deaf. My mother worked in the maturnity/nursery back in the 60-70's. Oh the names she'd tells us were plastered on those poor innocent babies. Of course the nurses weren't much help, they tried hard to get one baby Chlamydia, instead the girl was named Clymanestra :twitch:
Another time they tried to persuade the mother to name the baby Labia....that was until someone told the mother what is was. Girl became Libia. Almost as bad. Nurses humor.
Just looking at this again....did it always say OES mix???
I don't know many responsible breeders that breed mixes?????

Lately I have seen a lot of purebred looking dogs listed as _______/mix. Maybe it's a safety net for shelter and rescue groups in case someone comes back complaining their "advertised as purebred" dog is really not?
That would be a good approach. Thinking it's just a typo on their part though-

Sassafras' adoption fee is $550. Sassafras is a 5-month-old purebred Old English Sheepdog. She has come to us from a very reputable breeder, one that we hold in great appreciation.

The price on this deaf puppy still disturbs me along with the fact that this very reputable breeder didn't carefully rehome her herself. Not my business. At least she's been spayed before flying to her home...
I just read this post today. she is not far from me. I emailed the person and received a response. Sass was adopted and flown to Connecticut yesterday. hope she is happy and in a good home.
