Painful Nibbling

Khloe does this thing with her mouth, I am assuming to get our attention...she nibbles our skin and pinches it with her teeth. It really hurts and has caused bruising! Is this a normal sheepdog thing? The last straw was when she did this to the little baby that I watch on his arm. It left a mark and he cried HARD! I have got to find a way to get her to stop doing this.

I don't know that it is a sheepdog thing. My Rottie used to do that. What usually set her off was if I was scratching her belly or the base of her tail. She's get really happy and then turn around and nibble with her front teeth like she was trying to return the favor. I don't think she knew how much it hurt when she nipped too hard.

well, she didn't know until I started saying, "OW!" REALLY loudly, even before she got to the point where it hurt. The moment she started the nipping, I'd say, "OW!" and turn away from her with my arms crossed. Eventually she got the message that the behavior was unacceptable.
Tiggy has done it to me (on my butt) when I wasn't going to the pantry fast enough. I yelled so loud, I think she was too scared to do it again.

I have seen her doing it to the sheep when we're herding too, so I think it may be a herding instinct.

I bet Ms. Tiggy has her own side to this story.
Zeke is a nibbler.
I never thought it was bad but maybe someone else would.
I thought it was kinda cute. I even called him Nibbles.
I had a sheltie who used to do this. It was like he was nibbling corn off the cob. Didn't really hurt though, as he was pretty gentle about it.

Laurie and Oscar
nipped it it in da bum right away w/sheepie pup, had a baby. let the horse continue it as he was always careful and did it on one's clothing. had to just teach the rabbit not to, way too sharp. 8)
